Better read carefully your original contract if this is a case of a "rebuilt" engine, because rebuilt has a very different meaning to different people. You may have thought you where getting one thing, but actually got another. The issue of improper breakin will also be brought up depending on how this goes for you. So that means someone has allready played musical chrome over the last 29 years... I want any chrome that has "283" on it. I want to tear off the "V6 OHC 326" on the front now. It gets repainted in febuary and I want to have proper chrome on it. ie 2xTempest 2x283 to put on the car. If someone gets all huffy at a show and shine I'll just ask HIM to find me a pontiac v6 OHC ... I mean, it's not a collecter car, it's a nice looking daily driver. as such the 283 does fine. ... I owned one! that little EB2 was a real parking lot monster ;> But seriously we have TONS of the old ones around here. Those little alloy engines take abuse like love, run forever. They aren't that collectable, but sure are a hoot to drive. Mine was with me for a while before I ran the engine dry of oil one day and scrapped it. I just came to love the handling, small size of it. I learned to hate how any frost would freeze the door locks how the vynyl let rust creep into the roof and the heater was a joke. The doors were the worst... If I never have to hammer down a hatch button and crawl over seats it will be far too soon ;> ... Metro Police is starting to use Ford Crown Vic's with the 4.6 engine, after 3 or 4 years of service (and the county is ready to sell) they will be pretty much worthless...I got a couple of Vic's 89,91 and may get a Chevy Caprice (Just for the Memories)...they'll be selling next 3 years all over Dade County, Florida.
