Come on over to HAM-ECHO. Scanning is on-topic -> there as is any topic dealing with radio. I'm not sure if we get that, but leaving it out would represent quite an oversight, wouldn't it? I'll check. Additionally, I'm not on the net, so I'm not in any newsgroups either. The ones I've seen always seem to end up in name-calling, and life's too short for that. I DID hear a lot of freight switching at the Winslow yard on 160.935 MHz. The ATSF road channel in Winslow had some chatter on it when a train would pull through (160.650 MHz.) There was some chatter on 160.335 MHz. That latter one is a PBX channel. Other than that, it was pretty quiet except for some talk on 161.205 MHz. That one is supposed to be the RR police. I am still looking for the frequency used by the people on board the AMTRAK. I couldn't hear a peep from them on my hand held throughout the entire journey to and from Winslow. There sure were a lot of freights going through at night. --------- Later Brian brianirish@juno.com --- Platinum Xpress/386/Wildcat! v1.3e * Origin: FidoNet International Coordinator Emeritus, for life (1:202/746) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 154 SCANNERS Ref: F5G00013 Date: 04/15/98 From: BLAIR THOMPSON Time: 08:51pm \/To: BLAKE BOWERS (Read 1 times) Subj: Amateur -> Well, I am the moderator here, and I decide what is off-topic, and -> what is on-topic.
