I didn't realize that there was some "unwritten rule" that a person can only research information on things which are "popular" hmm.. interesting concept. Your point noted, about the ICOM r-9000 not being a popular model, but that is absolutely no excuse whatsoever to not publish information on how to "mod" it. In fact that excuse you gave holds no "water" whatsoever. You'd ell just as many books by publishing R-9000 mods as you would by not including that info in your book. The proper answer would be that most authors simply cant afford an R-9000, it has nothing to do with what the most common models of scanners are.. People who publish scanner mod books, do so for the odels which they have in their posession, they dont usually go out to the stores with the intent of buying the cheapest most common models available. --- GEcho 1.00 * Origin: Brian's World (516)-331-5540 Long Island, NY (1:2619/232) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 154 SCANNERS Ref: EGV00000 Date: 12/24/97 From: JOHNNY ANDERSON Time: 10:14am \/To: MARIO A. (Snicker) Seriously, try Bill Cheek Commtronics Engineering PO Box 26278 San Diego, CA 92196 Describe as best you can what mod you're looking for and what scanner you want to apply it to, and he can tell you which book it's in (if any). He might also be able to scrounge up the mod from another source. Remember, though, that he does this for a living, so his digging around for information might cost you. (If you're like me, and just curious about what mods are available, just order all three of his books for $50 or so and read for the next month.) I've also got an internet address, webpage, and some phone numbers around here somewhere. I'll dig them up if you want. He also publishes World Scanner Report, which is a great newsletter when he sticks to radios and doesn't get off into Internet and PC's and other soapbox issues.
