You seem to be throwing 2 of CM>those worlds out just to support one of them (the exact same thing the ISO CM>standard ASCII character set does... only the oposite set... You bet Carl. But, it is easy to switch back and forth between standard and ANZI sets; ANZ25.com is only 3664 bytes (not K!), and DOS termcomms all let you shell to dos... where you can run it, and when you get back to the host, most of the termcomms will not notice the change. There are a few that so tightly control the video mode, they will cancel it, but they are not the popular ones. CM>Yes, if you used any codes below ASCII 32, you may have problems... yeah, I do use many of them, and tried to avoid obvious hassle from the esc, CR LF, tab, EOF,... just havn't figured out how many of them there are that will cause trouble. How bout I send a series of short email with samples of the main suspects in each to see what happens? Well, actually, no. the menu screens would look weird to a sysop who had them up on his monitor, but they would go thru the comm port like any other ascii codes. When I logon on to the local I get: rt1-atc> and if I respond with: rt1-atc> ? I get a list of what looks like unix commands which includes connect, ftp, rlogin, slip, telnet ppp.... and a buncha junk I never read about. If I connect with a BBS, the interface seems normal, except that it is a lot slower than what I get if I pay the ld$ to logon direct. Course, along with the new system is a new modem. thank god I found a copy of commo to run... still gotta catch fred to see if he can send a new key if he still has a copy of my registration... But, if I connect with an intenet host which asks for my name, and I do "anonymous" followed by my address as above, I get denied access. come to think of it, maybe my host is not sending out the same thing that it told me was my address? -*- SLMR 2.1a --- Opus-CBCS 1.7x via O_QWKer 1.1 * Origin: BlinkLink - Perceiving is believing! 412-766-0732 (1:129/89.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 153 COMMO Ref: D4V00001 Date: 04/24/96 From: DAY BROWN Time: 10:17pm \/To: FRED BRUCKER (Read 4 times) Subj: {COMMO} My registerd copy of {COMMO} burned up the same fire that burned down my house. would you still have a copy of my registration? The file is called CMMO66A.ZIP. This has some fixes and enhancements that I would like users to try. It has been extensively alpha tested and appears to be quite stable. This beta release has the INT 14 (communications driver) interface, which allows {COMMO} to be used with FOSSIL drivers and other drivers that use the standard (BIOS) interface. See README.1ST for complete instructions. The release also includes a CompuServe B Plus protocol overlay, so that use of OZBEXT is no longer necessary. See README.1ST for a complete list of changes to beta releases. The file is available on the following BBS's. My thanks to the operators of these fine systems (and all others who have been picking up the betas and posting them on their boards). On Charlie's Foxhole you can also get the beta quickly. Follow instructions on the BBS opening screen. Please report your findings (good or bad) here in this conference. Beta releases serve two purposes. They allow me to test changes to the program and they make bug fixes and enhancements available to users before the next release (which may not be out for a while). It's a shareware FB>editor from SEMware. They also have a more advanced TSE editor FB>which is commercial software. I've used their editors for many FB>years and they're really excellent. Seems like I have tried qedit; but not found what I want, which is: one that will split the screen *vertically*, say two 40 cols. so I can open up an .asm file, and when I find a call, to put the subroutine on the right side, be able to scroll down it without scrolling the return site. that way, if the subroutine does anything to registers or whatever that may follow the point of the call, I will be reminded by having that right in front of me. Since I work in assy, none of the instruction lines need more than 40 columns. The other thing I would like to see is what I remember was in APPLEWRITER years ago: the backspace key dumped into a 128 byte buffer; then if you used ctrl-rt arrow, or whatever, that LIFO buffer typed the word back out again. it was really neat for moving words around in a sentance without having to go to the trouble of marking blocks. -*- SLMR 2.1a --- Opus-CBCS 1.7x via O_QWKer 1.1 * Origin: BlinkLink - Perceiving is believing! 412-766-0732 (1:129/89.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 153 COMMO Ref: D4X00000 Date: 04/22/96 From: STEVEN CHANDLER Time: 10:48am \/To: ALL (Read 4 times) Subj: Help - How to hookup a modem on a SmartP10:48:2704/22/96 So maybe somebody out there has already had (and overcome) this one: We recently installed a hi-felutin PABX at work.
