After seeing how emphatic everyone was that UnDelete worked, I reinstalled version 2.8 in its own directory. ( Not overlaying it on ver 2.6 ) Problem , SOLVED ! This may also answer some my other compatibility questions. If I uncover the root cause I'll let you know. It sounds like your problem was that the TSESTART macro that was getting loaded was compiled with the wrong version of SC32, and therefore was being rejected by the editor. Possibly a problem with the path? George J. I've done it a lot with WordPerfect's old ED.EXE, and an old program, PATCH.COM. Is there any way to: 1) Have the offset/address displayed, and use a goto command to go to a specific offset/address? 2) Produce a display similar to LIST.COM in the /H or Alt-H [HEX] mode, with the offset/address displayed on the left, sixteen bytes displayed in the center in hex format, and sixteen bytes displayed on the right in "binary" (pc screen font) format? -- and then be able to edit in either hex or binary (direct, using, e.g. Alt+nnn [numeric keypad])? Basically I'm looking for good old PATCH.COM with the ability to handle large files and use insert mode (not just overwrite). If I load a file with binary and hex enabled, the binary is on the left and the hex is on the right, opposite to what I'm used to, and there isn't any easy way I've found to get to an explicit address either a specific 16-byte line, or over to a specific byte, except by tedious counting. I'm almost certainly missing something. Is there a ready-made macro that sets all this up? Thanks in advance for your help.
