Hello George, (We've not talked since I was on I-Link years ago ;-) Would you be so kind to list the various offerings that the Qedit programs and the TSE derivatives have to offer, I & others find it a little daunting. : (It doesn't help trying to follow the hints and tips either :-) I'm particularly interested in the upgrade path details following registration of any particular program. And a brief description of the programs to differentiate between a good editor for "messaging" and general file editing as oppose to a "full" programmers editor. You might be able to update me with the latest on the dictionary scene with regard to an English version (Other programs call it English-American as compared to US-American don't they? :-) Make it clear as possible ;-) Ie does a Junior version upgrade to a Pro when registered - That's a clue to how clear the change of name and the various names used have made it - even if my example is wide of the mark ! CC> How can that be done? The way I've been doing it is using the Find/Replace command to search for the line break symbol (a single music note. Paragraph break is a double music note), and in the "replace with" box, just press the Del key. I select Global and No prompts options and it deletes the line breaks. I have saved a macro of this with the Alt-M macro command, so all I need to do now is type: q [filename] -eremovlb.mac and the file is loaded into Qedit with the line breaks removed. To get the single music note into the "search for" box, hold down your Alt key and while holding it, type 013 on your _numerical_ keypad. Then release the Alt key and the '' will be displayed in the box. If you need to remove some other high-bit character, pull down the ASCII chart from the 'Other' pull down menu and look up the Dec value. --- timEd/386 1.10+ * Origin: SoundProof Point, Pittsburgh PA (1:129/26.2) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 152 QEDIT Ref: DDN00000 Date: 09/17/96 From: SID LEE Time: 03:49pm \/To: CHRIS CLARK (Read 3 times) Subj: Removing line breaks -=> Quoting Chris Clark to All <=- CC> I often have an ASCII text file which I want to import into a CC> word-processor, or into TSE Jr, and I want to easily remove the line CC> breaks, but not the paragrpah breaks. It depends on the details of how your original file is formatted ;-) If your original file has double carraige returns between the paragraphs TSE Jr. will simply work. You can read in the file and rewrap each paragraph. TSE Jr. distinguishes lines from paragraphs using the double CR. In fact in TSE Jr. each line ends with a CR/LF but it will use the double occurence to split paragraphs when you do a rewrap. As for the word processor import it depends on the software you have available. WordPerfect will nicely import a text file where there is a blank line between paragraphs and get the paragraphs correctly most of the time unless your formatting is very odd for a paragraphed document. I presume other major WP players will do the same thing though most of my experience is with WordPerfect ;-) If your paragraphs are not separated by blank lines then things get trickier ;-) -- Regards -- Sid Lee (FIDO - 1:134/122, Internet - sidlee@agt.net) --- Blue Wave/Max v2.12 * Origin: RASCAL BBS [Calgary, Alberta - (403)686-2550] (1:134/122) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 152 QEDIT Ref: DDQ00000 Date: 09/19/96 From: JOOST BOERE Time: 01:21am \/To: PETER LANE-COLLETT (Read 3 times) Subj: printer control from QEdit Hello Peter, > Why don't you do the same thing you described (with > macros)?
