I'm aware of that of coarse, but what I sometimes want to do after recording, is record some parameters while the music is playing, so I can monitor the impact directly. I notice that no one understands the advances of this "would be" option. In my opinion it's plain and obvious: just like editing other controllers afterwards, like volume, pan, pedal, you can hear on the fly while playing the music if the effect is what you want or not. I don't know about a patch, but my friend picked up "Wired for Sound", which works with either the speaker or the sound card. It needs a "Dsound" driver to use the speaker. The problem is, while it's playing, it halts ALL processing and displays a musical note instead of the cursor. Not too bad for the Windows system sounds, but somewhat useless for anything else. Even Sierra's Johnny Castaway screensaver was terrible with the amination pausing for the sound to finish playing. C-ya! Re: Back to MIDI, please? > Can anyone recommend any other software, other than Microsoft's "Session", fo > recording music? I use an old soundblaster midi sequencer, plus i have one called the ecording session and, another one i can't think of. But all of them have been upgrade during the last few years and the recording studio, by midiSoft i beleive looks to be a pretty good progam. But I have an older version so I really can't speak for it. But from the add, it also gives you the capability to add vocals to your music tracks also. The program for the sound blaster is called Sequencer plus, by voyetra and the other one is called music time, by a company called passport... Problem I had was all of them had features I enjoyed but they weren't in one package. But the sequencer plus was my favorite, even though the Music Time package could print sheet music and you could include lyrics and guitar chords on you music also. okay bye Warren Pittman --- Virtual Advanced Ver 2 for DOS * Origin: The Cosmic Void BBS (1:3634/505) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 151 MIDI-NET Ref: EGD00001 Date: 12/07/97 From: WARREN PITTMAN Time: 09:23pm \/To: JEFF EDMONSON (Read 1 times) Subj: Back to MIDI, please? What's the speed of your processor, Rich? I don't see that problem here, on a 5x86/133 w/16M of RAM, under Win'95. In fact, I've been playing this Backgammon game from MVP Software, that has midi tracks in it - as well as selectable tracks, from elsewhere on the harddrive! Something to listen to, while you're playing... They've also got a Cribbage game out, that has midi music, but there's no way to select what gets played, though. Some pretty cool Jazz, though ;-) Regards, -Jeff --- FMail 1.02 * Origin: Electronic Avenue BBS 210-533-5668 San Antonio, TX (1:387/510) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 151 MIDI-NET Ref: EGD00004 Date: 12/06/97 From: JAN DE SMEDT Time: 02:11pm \/To: ALL (Read 1 times) Subj: CS1x diver for Cubase Studio module Hello all, I've got CAF 2.06 and the studio module, which is great for SYSEX communication between the Atari Falcon and a multiple synth/expander setup, especially when you've got a MIDI patch bay like me ;-). You can select program changes by name instead of looking them up in a table for each device. Nice ;-) Recently I've added a Yamaha CS1x synth to my setup, that I'd like to meld in naturally. Any one any idea if such a driver exists and where to get it? I *do* run Cakewalk (and CuBase, allthough I don't like it a lot) and I failed to get either program to do this the way MArk wanted. Generally, one 'draws' a tempo change on a graph. CuBase allows you to change it, in real time whilst recording, using the + and - keys. But neither allowed direct control with a slider in the way I understood the question. I think we all read something into your question which you didn't intend. If what you meant was could you change the tempo during playback, then the answer is yes - probably for every sequencer ever written. Recording those changes is another thing entirely and I think we all leapt to the conclusion that that was what you were trying to achieve. Most sequencers that I have used can only do this by 'drawing' on the tempo track (sometimes called the 'conductor' track). CuBase allows you to record a real-time change of tempo - but one assumes you would first have to determine the tempos required *before* recording the change .
