He, I've been trying to get my sound card to play MIDI files at all under Windows 3.11. I used to have it working, but after I had to reinstall Windows, it has never worked. It claims it is playing a file, but no sound. I don't have the weird adapter required to use the joystick port to connect to my synth, so I don't know if MIDI data is being sent out that port or not. Is there a more capable method of interfacing a computer to MIDI other than using these horrible "soundblaster" cards? I've been looking for a good program, and Noteworthy seemed to have all the features I need, but haven't been able to play with it since my MIDI doesn't work. --- GEcho 1.00 * Origin: AEN NEWS - 334-735-0306 (1:18/175) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 151 MIDI-NET Ref: EFU00003 Date: 11/22/97 From: GRAEME JAYE Time: 04:47pm \/To: ROSS WELLS (Read 1 times) Subj: Re: Expired Listing Ho Ross, How're you doin'? Sure, there's a couple of companies that make cards with nothing but midi ports. (And an SMPTE sync port if you need it.) We use the Opcode PC MIDI cards here. They are about $47.00, and come with some excellent MIDI diagnostic software. You can run one of these AND a soundcard - though it takes a little thought assigning your IRQ's and such.
