A new evaluation version of Music Works for Windows v2.2 (Build 47) was just made available on the TRIUS BBS (Area #1, MW2NET.EXE) and on TRIUS own Web site at (http://www.triusinc.com). Get your copy today! These are among the many modifications and enhancements, in this new release: - Support has been added for popup menus when right mouse button is pressed. - Menu layout has changed. - Dialog boxes have been changed to fit onto a 640x480 screen. - Additional options have been added to the Preferences dialog box. - An option has been added to swap between American and European nomenclature. - The left double click option now performs the default edit operation on a note instead of displaying the Edit Dialog box. - Additional accents have been added to the Note Palette. - Some terms have been renamed within dialog boxes and menu options. - Toolbar icons have been changed to fit onto a 640x480 screen. - An option has been added to make the division spacings automatically change when a different note value is selected. - A problem with adding MW to the start menu when running under Windows NT was corrected. - Modifications made to keyboard interface for placing notes. Some problems created after using control key combinations were corrected. - Shortcut keys to choose menu options have been changed to remove conflicting and duplicate keys in existing menus. Key combinations were added to access all menus with Alt key shortcuts. - First time repeat symbols have been changed to be open to the left. This option is on by default. The old behaviour can be restored by adding the following to the ini file: [Preferences] ShowLeftDropOnRepeatMarkers = 1 - Drum names were read incorrectly from the DRUM.LST file. The first line of drums should be line 3 of the file. The program was adopting line 1 of the file. - The Edit Note and Edit Selected Notes dialog boxes both demonstrated problems interpreting pitch and MIDI input values when drum names were displayed. This has been corrected. - Double sharps and flats were not read from files after they were saved. This has been corrected. --- * OLX 1.53 * Dyslexics have more fnu --- HyperMail! v1.20 * Origin: TRIUS BBS / N.Andover, MA / (508)794-0762 (1:324/413) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 151 MIDI-NET Ref: EDB00001 Date: 09/02/97 From: ROY PENFOLD Time: 08:04am \/To: ALL (Read 1 times) Subj: AWE64 Gold and Cubasis A + CrossPosted in: SOUNDBLASTER + CrossPosted in: MIDI INTEREST + CrossPosted in: MIDI INTREST' Hi All, I was called into troubleshoot a midi setup yesterday, the owner of the system complained that as soon as playback started from Cubasis, a dialog box appeared stating that audio hardware was not responding and playback was stopped. The audio hardware appeared to be working fine from media player several other applications. After much head scratching, I found that the problem was caused by the AWE64 not being able to play FM voices at the same time as audio. To fix this problem, run 'MME Setup', and on the output list set FM to inactive. I hope this helps anyone else with the same problem. Bye bye! Roy * SeM. 2.25 UNREG * Nonexistent error. Where is the solution? The reason that the voice lists on Cubase do not correspond to Proteus voices is that Cubase is using a General Midi (GM) voice list (00=Piano 01=Bright Piano Etc). You have several choices, you can either set up a program change map on the Proteus to redirect the numbers to correct voices, or have the Proteus manual open in front of you and look up the correct numbers there. The third option may not be supported on Cubase but that is to create a custom voice list. All of the above involve a certain amount of work, but if we did not suffer for our art, could we call it art still:-) MR> I've tried send the original patches of Proteus via Sysex but Pc not MR> received. How do this? To enable Cubase to record system exclusive, on the options menu, you will find a 'Midi filter' dialog, Make sure that there is no tick under 'Record System Exclusive' P.S. I run Cubase ver 2.6 - I hope that the interface has not changed so much that you can't find this option. Bye bye! The Zone 1 Backbone only carries echoes listed in the Zone 1/2 EchoList. It seems that the listing for this echo has expired. Thus, it will be necessary for someone to assume the moderatorship and list it if it is to remain on the Zone 1 Backbone. There is a three month grace period to accomplish this. For more information please consult these files: BOFAQxxx.TXT and ELISTxxx.ZIP, where "xxx" is the version number. His printer is a HP Deskjet 600. When he tries to print out the staff view sometimes it will work but most of the time it will give some sort of conflict error and freeze the computer so bad that you have to hit the reset button. Twelve Tone Systems notes that there is a problem with some of the Deskjet printers and Cakewalk and says the fix is simply installing the generic HP Deskjet driver and using it to print. Problem is that the printer won't even recognize that driver and won't print anything from any program. I have a Deskjet 540 and installed it on his computer and everything works great. (No, I don't want to swap printers with him.) Does anyone here use the Cakewalk programs and have an HP600? I've tried about 6 different Deskjet drivers and can't get his 600 to talk to any of them except the 600 driver. What can I do next??? --- Opus-CBCS 1.79.x * Origin: Midi-Tech BBS - Pittsburgh, Pa. What can I do next??? Call the HP tech support folks while you have everything set up. I had the same problem with a 600, and nearly threw it out the window until the HP techs helped me sort it out. They were very nice - and very helpful. My problem had to do with remnants of old drivers left in Windows. The programs didn't know which DLL was the correct one.
