With some of the loops I persue, The gradual change brought on by a long crossfade loop is preferable to a change by using identical loop points. In many cases, no one, probably including yourself, can tell exactly where the loop starts. After all, one of the important parts of looping sounds is creating a natural transition, and I would rather use a minute of a traffic loop than use five minutes of unlooped sample, just as an example. I simply find you line of reasoning flawed. You seem to contend that crossfading has only one use-- to mask flaws in technique. I contend that there are more uses. My sampling technique is excellent. I use crossloops and reverseloops for musical reasons, not ones of technique. --- WWIVGate 1.12c * Origin: Reynard's Keep*(972)387-8330*North Central Texas*(1:124/5015) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 151 MIDI-NET Ref: DG400001 Date: 11/30/96 From: RICHARD JORDAN Time: 08:04pm \/To: JIM STAAL (Read 3 times) Subj: MIDISCAN On Nov 27 22:59 96, Jim Staal of 1:228/45.5 wrote: JS>> I have DL'd the Beta version from the home page. I haven't tried the beta, but I do use 2.5 regularly, and it works well on well printed music on a good scanner [like an HP] - sure its not perfect, but no OCR program achieves that - not even some of the $100,000 dedicated machines, and character is easier to read than notation - a combination of midisscan, cakewalk & finale gets me some nice sheet music, although I do not have patience enough to tweak all the things one can do for artistic sheet music.... but I'm not looking to publish either, just arrangements for local use JS> I guess they have made magnificent strides, eh? Not only did I trade in the Audiomedia III card for a Card D Plus, but I found out through Cakewalk that Audiomedio, while recording more than 8 audio tracks, WILL NOT PLAY BACK MORE THAN 8! The Card D Plus will play 'em all back. The quality apparently is dependent upon the rest of the computer. I've gotten some strange snapping sounds when playing back 10 audio and 3 MIDI tracks together and the HD sounds like it's workin' overtime. - Pedit Ver 2.2 --- GEcho 1.20/Pro * Origin: The CatWalk BBS Davie, Fl 305-370-3528 USR V.EveryThing (1:369/8) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 151 MIDI-NET Ref: DG500000 Date: 12/02/96 From: JOHN A.
