Upgrading to 1 meg will do just fine, but it may be hard to find the needed 256k simms. What you could do is upgrade to 2 megs by installing 2 1mb simms. Install 'em at the same place your 2 256k simms are now, then you'll know for sure they're in the right place. (can't remember what bank 1 is) I tried leaving the 256k's in, which work fine with all software except cubase 2.0... You can use simple 32 pin no-parity simms. If you remove the cover (remove te screws from the bottom) you'll find in the middle/back another metal cover you can take away by removing some screws and bending a few pieces of metal. That's where the simms are. They use the same format in writing the 3,5" disks. Well, not exactly. The Atari writes a random serial # to the disk when its formatted. That way the Atari can tell if the disk was changed when doing disk I/O. The PC formats all disks the same, so it can trash a floppy by changing disks if you change a disk by mistake. ^^ I mean "when", not "if" :-) Dave _____ / / |||||||||||||||====]: dbg01@gnofn.org \____\ --- PCBoard (R) v15.22/M 2 * Origin: The French Quarter 504-891-1388 Fido:1:396/44 (1:396/44)
