You ought to consider buying a program like MusicTime and making your own piano .MID files. All you need to do is buy the program, click the notes on the staff, and save it to disk as a .MID file. Sheet music can be bought at quite a few record stores (like Sam Goody's) nowadays. Just a suggestion... and there is a guy out there that does nothing but play piano music to .MID files. His name is Bob Mace (pretty sure, anyway) and he has quite a few .MID archives out there... some on CD-ROM I think. What would you rather have anyway: a GM module which sounds as clean as you can ever hope to have, but limmits you to use the same sounds that everyone uses over and over again, or a sampler for far cheaper the GM module that isn't all that clean but lets you create your very own sounds and syle, with exciting horn stabs, realistic string tremolos and a never ending variety of different drum sound and basses that are so fat your cholestoral will go off the scales, all in all a combination that realy blows people away and leaves them stunned at what they heard. Anything in your docs on > that? > This guy was claiming a 95db s/n from his AWE32! What baloney! :) Yes indeed. The AWE32 has a Digital Out ! As strange as it may seem it isn't mentioned on the box etc... The didgital out is found in the middle of the card. The connector are just two pins (as big as a jumper) the sound is transmitted directly to a DAT or DISCMAN. no more DIGITAL->Analog, trough a cable to a cassette Recorder (Analog->Tape) or DAT/DISCAMAN (Analog->DIGITAL). The conversion to Analog creats indeed noise, because your closed computer system produces the Faraday Effect (isolation of waves and impulses, see lessons of physics). With the directly DIGITAL recording, the noisefactor will be a lot smaller. I didn't try it yet, but I once talked to a musician, who owns a computer schop (selling the AWE32), who made with a friend a House/Trance Track. They recorded it and used it in Disco's.... So, it has to work acceptable.. this Digital Out. It wasn't perfect, but already a lot better than the ordinal Line out for Recording. One of his wiches was to find a Fast Tracker with AWE32 support. I like mu AWE32 a lot, but I'm also waiting for the ideal composer with AWE32 support. Are you satisfied with your GUS ? It has a lot more support... Bye !
