Well, I downloaded this tracker yesterdayevening, and it seems to be good stuff. I have a AWE32, nad those trackers never support fully AWE32 :(. Anyway, it's the first tracker a have which uses midi-in in SB16-mode. Great ! I have some questions on DT. - How can I sample ? Am I blind ? I can't find the REC button ! - When I try to load samples in the disk-menu, he says 'unknown SONG format' ? and the button Sample is tagged. Sometimes he loads samples, but when I try to load a 16bit sample, DT loads it in as an 8bit sample which results in garbage. What am I doing wrong ? It was a bit of a learning curve from ST3, but far easier to use in the long run! Sure Inertia Tracker is the same format as ST3, but does it even have an internal sampler? I found its sample editing to get a decent loop point impossible to use, or at least a royal pain. :) FT2's completely graphical editing system, allowing you to zoom in on the waveform itself, and even allow you to DRAW in a small change to correct clicks once you've found an already close loop point. Let's see ST3 or I.T. try that. :) Believe me, if I.T. was a better program, IMO, I'd have gone to it, like I did from ST3 to FT2. GUS is great too, but why don't they have MP> AWE32 support ? MP> Do you know any good trackers which have AWE32 support ? AWE32, or GUS PnP support would be real nice in a tracker... Loading the samples into RAM, so playback is near 0% CPU time, but not having the 1MB limit to worry about.... The AWE32 has the advantage of hardware reverb and other effects, and the GUS PnP can do the same by stripping 8 of its 32 channels... Considering the AWE32 can hold up to 28MB (32MB - 4.5MB wasted) of memory verus the GUS PnP's 8/8.5MB the AWE32 may be the ultimate in tracker cards- of only the software would come out for it. I remember seeing an AWE32 MOD-writer, but was a poor design, and I couldn't use it as I don't have an AWE32 anyways. At least, not yet.... As much as I'm against Creative Labs, it does seem appealing to have access to good sound libraries and hefty RAM for a VERY reasonable price when compared to hardware samplers. Problem is the 75db signal/noise ratio... not exactly pro-end equipment. Plus CL is notorious for unwanted noise... Someone was trying to convince me there's a digital or high-end output port somewhere on the AWE32 card, but it's not mentioned on any box or even CL's spec sheets on their webpage. Anything in your docs on that? This guy was claiming a 95db s/n from his AWE32! What baloney! :) ... Earl, you should probably have a look at the kind of stuff we're making now. With 24-bit digital tone generation, there's no excuse for not getting exactly what you want - the real question is ... what do you want? Admittedly, our products are geared for the retirement set, but we put plenty of goodies in there for professionals as well. Find a Lowrey dealer in your area and check out one of the LX models. There are four sets of synthesizers, DSP chips for reverb, chorus, etc. and 300 watts worth of amplification. There's also a programmable preset system that lets you setup the instrument to suit your playing style. All of our stuff has had full MIDI implementations since about 1984. EK> A tone wheel generated system with full set of drawbars on different EK> sets of sine waves! Remember the old Farfisa Pro. Had a set of on/of EK> switchs based on the overtone series for flutes, reeds, and EK> percussion. The appeal of the tone wheel, drawbar organs is often misunderstood. A good part of it had to do with the way they were tuned. With mechanical tone generation, the tuning was not precise, being related to gear ratios. But, the tuning was off in a way that made the instruments sound good even if you played them with your elbows. Using all tempered partials also contributed to the "Hammond" sound. If this is the sort of sound you want, check out the XB-3, it's essentially a digital Hammond, with the imperfections programmed in. We've often toyed with the idea of a modular instrument, with tonal resources selected by the customer. There would be tone generator modules for "Hammond" type sounds, full orchestral synthesis, strictly electronic synth sounds, baroque and romantic pipe organ, add infinitum. We've not been able to convince management that a market exists for such an instrument. Thanks for your input. ... But considering there's tons of great sampler's out there allready (like wave for windows and countless other's), Its not totally important (in my opinion-but I do admit that it would make things a little bit more convienient! Mabey if people write the author and bug him about this-he'll throw one in, in the next version!) In order to load samples probally yopu have to click on the bigger sample box(the one that list's the full names) and then you just pick a spot and it'll work for ya. (It took me a while to figure thta out as I had the same problem). Oh ya, and you might have some trouble with VOC files, as igitraker want accept VOC's that are compressed. So just normal VOC's will work with t. Now when loading a 16 bit sample, just do the same thing you would for an 8-bit, click on the spot you want to put the sample and then load it into the prog. If it says it's 8-bit chances are it still is 16 bit but the prog oesnt list it. Just click on the 8-bit box to convert it to 16 bit. If it sounds staticky and garbage, go into the sample menu and change it from signed to unsigned or vice versa. And thats about it, it should all work fine for ya now!
