The delrin roller increases brake responsiveness and increases ankle clearance. $US19.99. World Class V-daptor The V-daptor uses an ingenious cam-pulley that allows you to use V-style brakes with standard levers. 40 grams/pair, $US29.99. Hope that helps, Steve ... Instead they will put on some catilever brakes that will not be as strong as the v-brakes, but much better then what I had before. Will know by tomorrow. It would seem the bosses on my tube are too close together not creating enough torque for the brakes to activate so I was told. They tried putting on some Shimano LX cantilevers to no-avail with the same problem. I went down another notch in quality and got an older style canti- which seems to do the trick. I guess I will really know once the bike is fully loaded and I have to stop. Thanks Steve for the Info. Richard G --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Juxtaposition BBS. Personal insults are not acceptable. - Have fun. - no high-ascii, ansi codes, or big signature files. BORING LONG VERSION OF RULES 1) PURPOSE: The cycling enthusiast's Echo (Tag BIKENET) is for the discussion of all aspects of cycling, be it on or off-road, touring, commuting, racing, or occasional recreation use. Discussion on any degree of activity is acceptable, from occasional commuting to high-end racing. Discussion of hardware, technique, cycling celebreties, trails, trail building and maintenance, touring destinations: all are acceptable. Discussion of environmental impacts is also acceptable, but only to a degree. 2) CONDUCT: There shall be no insults of other users. Given that some fans are somewhat sensitive about their teams, posters are reminded that some jests are all in good fun, and to respond appropriately. Insults directed at a poster (called "Flames") are not acceptable. a) Only a moderator shall deal with off-topic material. b) Moderator-type posts will be made obvious, so as to differentiate from regular posts by such individuals. 3) PROHIBITED: BBS ads and commercial postings for any service not related to cycling. Those entries related to cycling may be deemed off-topic upon review. Also off-topic are excessive diatrabes for or against mandatory helmet laws. 4) CONTENT: Due to the nature of some mail-handling software, high-bit ASCII is not permitted in this echo at this time. Those with SIGs are reminded that this is an international echo: some folk collect the echo via long-distance and others may live in areas where per-minute charges for phone connections exist. Consequently, posters are requested to avoid long post-message signature files. (SIGS). a) Those persons using handles as part of their normal BBSing are requested to append their real name to their messages. b) Conversations which might best be held in a private forum, or which stray from being on-topic are best moved to NETmail. (Ask your sysop about netmail access.) c) Do not overquote.... grumbles will occur if you add "I agree!" after quoting 20 lines of text. (Control-Y usually deletes unwanted lines in most editors/offline readers.) But, on the other hand: d) It is requested that you add at least a representative portion from the message to which you're responding. This "quote" will aid others in recalling the thread, or making responses. 5) WARNINGS: The BIKENET echo exists on a three-strikes principle. Warnings will be sent via PRIVATE NETMAIL, or internet e-mail if addresses are made known in a post. Consequently - JUST BECAUSE THERE IS NO OBVIOUS ACTION BEING TAKEN IN PUBLIC, readers should not assume that the moderator(s) are having a nap. 6) DISTRIBUTION: The content of the BIKENET echo may not be distributed to any other mail-handling network without permission of the moderator(s). 7) QUESTIONS: Regarding moderation, complaints and request for discipline may be directed to the moderator(s): FIDO: Vern Faulkner, 1:340/44. Still suffering from the various direct and secondary injuries picked up in that accident a month ago. The main problem has been a strained tendon, pretty much due to changed biomechanics right as I did that 1000k in 8 day trek last month. I took six days (Gah!) off, and sure it did something for the ankle (sorta) but it sure didn't do my conditioning any good. I've got data on the race I want to run, but my condition is such that I will likely not run in the competitive "licenced" division, but in the "Citizen" bracket instead. In short, unless I want to re-tool for some races later this year (which include downhill events, which I think are sucky) and/or travel far and wide, I'm pretty much going to have to look at next year.
