If I am not too nosy, since this is really The chances, then, are that your friend will likely be fine. Testicular cancer, if caught early, is one of the safest cancers to get. I underwent an orchotomy myself. The Cancer folks wanted to radiate and chemo my body, but I told them to go to hell - until the results from post-operative scans had come in. Cancer treatment borders on barbaric, and it isn't all its cracked up to be. I didn't do the chemo/radiation thing, and am still here today. BA> recent for him, could you share some of your experiences so I can relate BA> them. Needless to say, he is at least a small bit Expect him to undergo a battery of tests to see if things have popped up elsewhere: bone scans, cat scans, x-rays. After that a regimen of regular chest x-rays and cat scans is likely - along with monthly blood tests for two immune-system hormones that rise dramatically in the presence of tumors: Beta HCG and Alfa-Feta Protein. If your buddy is an active type, his recovery from the orchotomy should be around five weeks. I was in reasonably solid shape at the time, although a little fat. I was cleared to engage in contact sports in 16 days - but I think that was an abberation at the low end of the bell curve: I heal fast. I'm not sure what the mind-state of your friend might be regarding the loss of his testicle. He may wish to consider a prosthetic - the procedure is one I have not undergone, but have considered: insertion of a rubber replacement via a small incision in the scrotal tissue. Now that I've separated from my wife, and returned to the single life, I've re-evaluated the prosthetic. Might have a "self-esteem" factor for your buddy, but I don't think there's any rush. The two-year period is the one that really matters. If he's clean after two, he'll likely be fine from there on in. Five years is pretty much closure. Wish him all the luck from me. And attitude - he has to keep positive! If you have a decent saddle you have no problems. I got my first horse back around 1932 and I've ridden Western Saddles all those years, No Problemo. So it cannot be compared with Cycle saddles. Of course, the Caddilac of Saddles was the Pearson Saddle from back in thew 1930's. It was superb and if you had one on your Bike, you were looked up to. ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.20 [NR] --- Alexi/Mail 2.02b (#51) * Origin: The Port Brew | S. A. He really does seem to be doing well now. He had his orchiectomy around 8-10 weeks ago or so, and had exploratory surgery on his lymph nodes around 3 weeks ago. The biopsy reports were all good, so I'd keep my fingers crossed except that would make it difficult both to type here and to ride my bike. --- * Freddie 1.2.5 * "Windows 95 rules!
