My old Trek 850 is a lot older than some of the guys out there that are reading this Forum. I repair it when it needs repairing, and just ride it whenever the weather cooperates. It is for excersize more than anything. If I didn't ride that ol' Trek my feet, ankles, hips, and so on and so forth would be so stiff I couldn't walk. Not only that it helps keep my Blood Sugars low enough to keep from having to use Insulin. ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12 - JetMail v1.206 - Unregistered QWK Mail Door for Spitfire --- Alexi/Mail 2.02b (#51) * Origin: The Port Brew | S. My friend says i should wear it. Maybe i will. sorry to hear about your miss-hap...hope your skin heals fast and the bruises go away... anyway, about helmets, i wear mine 99 percent of the time (i know it should be 100%) and i haven't needed it _YET_, and thats the key word, _YET_.... circumstances happen on a law of averages, the more i ride my bike the more likely it will be that i meet a car or pavement WHILE riding my bike... if i don't ever ride my bike it won't happen WHILE i riding my bike, but some other time instead (now this is beginging to sound like gibberish) anyways, you should wear your helmet as you never know what is going to happen and you know that you look better wearing a helmet while on a bike rather than wearing it just walking around :) maybe we should ride our bikes all the time so we can look normal and still be protected... :) anyways, another story to wear a helmet... a guy i used to hang out with was riding his bike when he lost control over some slippery pavement and went down, wham... didn't hit his head, but rather had it run over by a car... now normaly his head would have went POP like a melon dropped from a fair height, but he was wearing his brain bucket (helmet) and instead ended up with a minor bruise to a limb, a hair raising story and a neat looking helmet (the tread came out nicely)... so you don't even have to hit your head to get seriously injured, someone else may be willing to do it for you... anyways, i'll sign off now, before i have a chance to make sense.. :> (sorry, it's been a long night, and i need SLEEP!) ... internet: Packrat@canbbs.net | fidonet: Packrat 1:153/871 ... The tour runs through main streets in towns on the island of Montreal. There are two category of cyclists: Those who want to go fast, non-stop and able to keep a speed of at least 30km for the 63 km distance. The other is the main group who want to cycle leisurely stopping when the need arises, taking the better part of the day to complete the distance. The first group composes of about 1500 cyclist and the main group approx. about 43 thousand cyclist. Being the biggest tour in the world you can imagine the logistics for setting about a course for such a large gathering. Would you believe that aftering receiving 45 thousand entree forms in a period of two weeks, the organizers must reject any more. I entered the express group that leaves first and covers the distance under two hours. The nice thing about the express is there are no bottle necks throughout the course which does occur for the tourers. I finished in 1:40. The start and finish is found in a large park where one can lie down in after the ride. There are music bands playing and entertainers walking through the crowds. If anyone is interested the tour is at the beginning of June and entry forms can be picked up in April. When these form come out at the local Canadian Tire store, don't hesitate to send it in. It was truly fun given the nice weather we had and friendly people that came from all over the world. Richard G. --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Juxtaposition BBS. It also must have made him laugh since he had to eat his words. even though I've been in countless accidents I still find it difficult to wear a helmet. I have nothing against others wearing a helmet and I would never make a crack to someone wearing one that it is superflous. then again those not wearing one does not bother me neither. I do wear one when i get together for the group ride on weekends. there is too much bolting around and the chances of going down is greater. When I get together with my two close friends or when alone I tend to go without one. Richard G. --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Juxtaposition BBS. Lasalle, Quebec, Canada (1:167/133)
