As for the mountains just outside of town, well those are just the foothills, moderate climbs. Severe is 100km west of Calgary when you actually get to the Rockies, 2500-5000 meters elevation. (Envision an 8spd cogset running from 11-26 teeth, no corncobs on our road machines) As for 2005, this is something that you shold know about, being that Nagoya Japan has a competing bid for the "World Exposition". From what I hear, a great many Japanese(and others) are ready to lynch the Nagoya Expo Commitee over a great many Environmental concerns. Moving on to Canadian Culture. We still buy snow tires from Canuk Tire, drink beer (tho not in any quantity by Japanese standards), watch Don Cherry on Hockey Nite in Canada, dispise the (G)rab and (S)teal (T)ax [and Brian Mulrouney], and in most places can only ride 3 months out of a year without resorting to Thinsulate riding clothes. ___ * OFFLINE 1.56 * Windoze 95: The storm before the lull..... --- Maximus 3.01 * Origin: The Keyboard BBS - Calgary, AB (1:134/67) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 150 BIKE NET Ref: E2I00000 Date: 02/12/97 From: KEN PECK Time: 08:49pm \/To: RICHARD GLAZER (Read 3 times) Subj: Bike lane/car lane -=> Quoting Richard Glazer to Ken Peck <=- RG> You also have to remeber Ken. One of the interesting proposals to come out of the TBC legislative meetings across the state last fall was a law that would make it illegal for one vehicle to closer than three feet of another vehicle. Since bicycles are vehicles, the kind of behavior you describe would constituted a moving traffic violation, subject to fine and increased insurance rates. I don't expect to ever see such a law, but it is an interesting proposal. === ==== = _@ Ken Peck + _ \<._ ========= (_)/ (_) Kenneth_Peck@clr.com ... Error 1423: Memory hog error.
