You can keep or rent a bike at the train JO> station, you take the train to the city and once there you can bike JO> commute the rest of the way. The rental bikes were Specalized Globe JO> bikes with the internal geared hubs. DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) conducted an experiment a few years back. They put in bike lockers that bicyclists could rent at certain bus stops. A few years later they reported that no one was using them. And the rest of the story comes from the City of Dallas Bicycle Coordinator. It seems that (a) the lockers were being used by bicyclists to store their bikes and that (b) after the first month DART neglected to collect the rent and thus concluded no one was using them. And thus the saga of the free bicycle lockers in Dallas. === ==== = _@ Ken Peck + _ \<._ ========= (_)/ (_) Kenneth_Peck@clr.com ... Stand like a beaten anvil. S. I also saw a comparision between a child seat and trailer in a recent issue of Mountain Biking magazine (by Captain Dondo, if I recall correctly). I am suprised to find out that some places have trailers illegal. What's the rational? Just curious. I don't have any kids and, considering the way my personal and financial life has been going, won't have any any time soon! After a RG> long and hard work do combine carbs with protein since muscle repair RG> benefit from the protein. A balanced diet is what is important. Proteins are more important when growing; they become less important as one grows older. On the whole, though, most of us waste an awful lot of money on diets which have an excessive amount of protein, which inevitably gets converted to fat or passed out with the urine. A diet with a variety of vegetables, fruits, and grains will provide all the protein an active adult is likely to need. Most of us need to sustain levels of exercise that will burn our body fat. I am of the opinion that most of the "power foods" discourage that by providing a more ready source of carbohydrates. There is a difference between the competitive athelete operating close to the anerobic zone over a period of hours, as in a road race, and most of us who operate at much lower levels (perhaps over the same or even longer periods of time) of energy output. And there is a difference between an athelete who will typically have a body fat level of < 10% and the rest of us whose body fat is > 15%. We have fat to burn . . . and need to. === ==== = _@ Ken Peck + _ \<._ ========= (_)/ (_) Kenneth_Peck@clr.com ...
