You can change out the cogs on most freewheels if you can find a shop that has a cog board. It was quite common before cassette setups that just about all shops had a cog board for Suntour or Campy hubs. Do you know what brand of freewheel you have? 5, 6, or 7 speed? What are you looking for on the low end, 24, 26 teeth? You will need a set of chainwhips to break the small cogs free to disassemble the freewheel. Being a certified pack rat like most, I do still have some 5 and 6 speed freewheels kicking around. If I have something you can use I would be glad to send it on out. If you repost with some more specific info we will try to help you out. Wayne ... Hi Ken, thanks for the reply about your two sense on reflectors. I just purchased a rear light called the Hot Dot by Specialized. It's very small and it flashes when turned on. I don't ride in the dark, but I do ride in the eveening and if I get a flat or over shoot the distance and it gets dark I have an emergency light. It's very tiny and it comes with a velro so that I can tie it to my seatpost. I hope that it is strong enough to be seen. I'm sure it is much better than nothing. Thanks for your tidbit on reflectors. Here in Quebec or should I say Montreal the law states that the bike should have rear and front lights. Now is this a law or a suggestion, I'm not sure. As to the scenerio I presented believe me Phil this is the exception. As to bikes with reflectors they are very scarce. What is ironic is that the cheaper the bike is when purchased the better chance that it will come with reflectors. I think that reflectors are viewed as a virus to bike racers. As to your comment as to staying away from Quebec because of the laws enforced on bikes, don't worry they are very vague like everywhere else and the scenery here is very beautiful. You have to come and try. I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised.
