Dear Wayne: I have a small filofax-type binder and note the route, time, distance, average and maximum speeds taken from the bike's computer. I also note any problems I had with the bike. It only takes 2 minutes. When I don't ride, I note why (rain, too windy, tired...) Are you a recreational rider or a racer? Wayne, I keep a log and have been doing it for about 3 years now! I have a one page blank that I did a couple of years ago on a desktop publisher and just keep making copies of it. Each page is "One week" of rides. At the top of the page I enter the "month", "year" and my present weight". I have 5 vertical columns for "date-day of week", "Distance", "speed", "Course", and "comments". Comments are about how I felt, weather, people I rode with, etc..... At the bottom of the page I keep a total of this weeks mileage and "year to date" for both solo and club miles. The biggest advantage is AFTER you get more than one year of these logs. I can then refer back to last year's weather, what date I crashed , and how my total miles compare to last year at the same time. (Also, my weight!) It only takes a few seconds a day to make the entry and I eep the log sheets in my desk drawer so they are handy. If you would like one of my "blanks" let me know here or by private -mail. My address is XJWK60A@Prodigy.com I would need your postal mailing address to send one to you. (other address is "MarkBlaisdell@castle.shore. net") Or better yet, I could visit and do a ride with you when I travel to Srpingfield the next time! Let me know. Mark B in NH ... I am trying to find a program that I can use with my point to list the users of this echo. I did try one but I did not have enough memory to use it properly. Of course the programs only list the people who write to the list. It does not show the number that read our messages and do not post at all. What we have done on a couple of other echos was to have anyone that logged onto the echo to basically sign on and say hi. Then there was a person on the list that took care of a list of members. The list was complied from the sign on as well as private posts that listed the members interests and home location. The list was then uploaded to the list on a monthly basis and updated as needed. If someone would like to take on the responsibility to start such a list I will not stop you. Think it over and see what you all think about it. In Calgary, the city is constantly improving the paths to make them safer for cyclists and pedestrians by widening some paths and twinning others. Also making paths under the bridges down town so you don't have to cross busy intersections. I cycle daily for fun and exercise but there are a lot of cyclist commuters here as well.
