Repairs are cheaper and easier than other materials and they are less expensive for the same quality leval than other materials. Frame choice is a personal choice, I have freinds I ride with that have Carbon, Ti and aluminum frames. and every one swears by their choice. I'm a small guy of 140 pounds, I do not need as stiff of a frame as a person who might be 180 lbs. The frames I might love to ride may be way wrong for someone else. But of course the material is not the only factor here. There is tube thickness, butting, geometry, tube length, chain stay length and fork rake. I like the stability of a raked fork for putting on or taking off my rain jacket or eating with both hands while riding (Who can open a power bar wrapper with one hand?). I know a few larger guys who love their Cannondale aluminum frames becase they need the stiffness. You might try an older style cablestop hanger made to mount on a seatpost bolt. You would put you seatpost quickrelease thur the hanger & need to eyeball a adjustment everytime you change the seatpost height, (not as bad as it sounds). --- * OLX 2.1 TD * Do I run? But something that you need to pass a written and road test to earn. Twice over the past week I had to make drastic evasive manuvers to avoid a accident with another bike. It is amazing how many bike riders will change lanes or make sharp turns with out looking for other traffic or signaling. Before I pass another cyclist I try to assess the skill of the person to pass. look behind for any cars that may make passing unsafe. Then I announce to the other cyclist that I am going to pass and what side I am passing on (almost always left). But this is not always enough and frankly with the high number of unskilled cyclist on the road I can't believe there are not more fatalities. Cycling is fun and I would love to see more people using bikes as daily transportation and recreation but riders need to learn the the rules and skills before hitting the streets. John O'Neill ... I've picked up various brochures, and they list 2 bike rental outlets in Charlottetown. We expect to fly from Toronto and rent our bikes. I doubt that we'll be travelling *all* over PEI in the limited time available to us, since we enjoy being mesmerized by scenery as well as interacting with people in local market areas. Have any of you cycled there, and what sort of experiences would you suggest? As an indicator of our stamina, or lack thereof, we perhaps will travel only about 100 km daily.
