Does this area also include the themepark in Europe? If yes, is there some kind best walked map. I found some on Internet for Orlando but can't find a thing about Paris. There is much one can discuss in the video domain that doesn't have to do with forsale stuff. For example, I asked a few days ago about if there is any real difference between the new Bambi release - allegedly all re-mastered, and the one from 6 years ago, which advertising also said was re-mastered back then. I'd love to read any opinions or info on that. Anyway, I shall abide until you re-open video/movies as OK topics again. --- GoldED 2.50 * Origin: The Moonshadow :*: 916.343.0534 :*: Chico, CA :*: (1:119/50) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 149 DISNEY Ref: E2T00030 Date: 02/20/97 From: JOHN GIANNINI Time: 10:14pm \/To: RICH KOSTER (Read 0 times) Subj: Amy is NOT Kit.... I have not worked since 1992 myself, and it has been a very hard struggle to survive. My wife works, and keeps us afloat, but just barely. It's hard for one person to support 2 people, especially in this area we live in. We live in a relatively small Wine Country town with a big university of some 14000 students, all of whom are ready and willing to work for minimum wage. Ergo, this is a "minimum wage town". It's the type of town where, if a classified for a toilet cleaner comes out in the paper, 500 people, all with resumes, apply. That's the honest truth. People gravitate towards open jobs like piranha, and it's this that makes it so hard to find work here. The fact is, we take 6-8 months to buy the 10 or so movies we get; we do it a little at a time, and we do it only so we *can* generate a bit of extra money later down the road - just so we can just survive. That's always been my motivation. If I had tons of money, I'd never bother doing that. In a town with little work, one has to sometimes be inventive just to survive, and the artificial market Disney creates via their moratorium policy is an opportunity we can't afford to pass up. CA> Dear me, the name escapes me, but I know when I see the rules CA> postings again, I'll know which one it is. C'mon enlighten me. I don't want to get Mr. Koster upset with off topicness here, so I will be very brief (less than 1 screen). The echo was SFFAN. In fall of '95, I posted a few messages there letting people know about the new STARMAN echo and the SLIDERS echo I was launching. I thought SF-interested people would be interested to know that soon there'd be these two echos available nationally. The moderator, Nicolai Shapero, got all on my case about mentioning these other echos in "his" echo. I figure he figured if people started using other scifi echos, they wouldn't use his, or something. That insecurity (or maybe his ego) caused him to disallow any mention of any other fido or internet newsgroups related to Science Fiction on "his" echo, despite the fact that his rules file says "anything" related to SciFi fandom is a legal topic on the echo. I pointed out that banning the mention of other echos and conferences on "his" echo only served to be a dis-service to users of that echo, and I opined that since the echo should exist for the sake of the *users* of the echo, and not for *him*, that mentioning other echos should be allowed on the basis that people interested in Science Fiction would find these other echos might be of interest to them. He only got more unreasonable. So after he jumped on me, I ceased all posts containing info on other echos. Jump 6 months. I spied a message on "his" echo from "his" WIFE, sxtolling the joys of the national FILK echo. I was shocked! I thought the mention of other echos on that echo was against policy! I authored a message criticizing that message, asking why his wife was being allowed to be an exception to his own echo policy. (I don't like double standards. They are an outrageous affront to moral thinking). His response? Rather than answer my very legitimate question, he simply booted me off the echo and banned me from it for life. That way, he could take the easy way out and not have to deal with the issue I brought up, while using the element of fear to keep everyone else from questionning his hypocracy. Ever since, I have not had access to the echo, and I have never received an answer to the issue I brought up. I hope this information answers your question, and I hope Rich doesn't kill me for this. But you asked the question here, and I feit I should answer it here. --- GoldED 2.50 * Origin: The Moonshadow :*: 916.343.0534 :*: Chico, CA :*: (1:119/50) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 149 DISNEY Ref: E2T00033 Date: 02/20/97 From: JOHN GIANNINI Time: 11:14pm \/To: CARIN M. WDW's 25th Anniversary Gala. The show will highlight some of the festivities and celeb guests who helped celebrate the event. It sounds good! Also - does anyone out there have an episode guide for Ocean Girl? Is there anything on Disney's web site? Does anyone know how many episodes are left in the current season? Finally, I read that Disney bought a 30% interest in E! channel! I found this interesting considering the biggest ratings on the service are yielded by the Howard Stern show. TB Guide said that Disney does not intend to "mess with" the programming for the service, which is cool... But I did find the news interesting. One has to wonder why Disney is diversifying so much of late. --- GoldED 2.50 * Origin: The Moonshadow :*: 916.343.0534 :*: Chico, CA :*: (1:119/50) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 149 DISNEY Ref: E2T00036 Date: 02/18/97 From: STEVEN ACEVEDO Time: 04:20pm \/To: KEVIN GIBSON (Read 0 times) Subj: A Brief Note KG> Pirates of the Caribbean KG> ------------------------ KG> In a strange display of "synchronicity," the above topic was being KG> discussed simultaneous with a conversation about changes being made KG> to the "Pirates of the Caribbean." It's almost the same deal with the ride here. In our attempt to be more intellectually enlightened we have forgotten how to have a sense of humor about everything. We are losing our instinct to have fun. And as I have explained before, not everyone accepts change even if The Politically Correct try to force us into being people we can never be. Everyone's upbringing is different and it's very rare if you run into someone with a similar background. --- OLX 2.2 TD It's better to follow your own example than anyone else's * Origin: GE999 BBS * The Anime Resource * 718-961-1764 * (1:278/539)
