Well, Fantasmic is included with your admission... and YES! it is definitely worth it. When I saw Fantasmic, I just sat there, memsmerized, mouth agape, taking in the multi-discipline extravaganza... I loved it! Grab a spot early -- around "center stage"... near PotC, looking out toward Tom Sawyer's sland. If your mom is with you, they do reserved seating for the disabled in front f the Haunted Mansion. When I was there, even people in wheelchairs were having kids sit in their laps because of the lack of space... so get there early as well. If rude people stand in front of you, don't hesitate to ask a CM to ave them move -- that area is specifically for wheelchair users, etc. (you can it there on a bench or on the ground, just don't stand unless you are in the ack of the wheelchair area). I stepped in a lot of mule patties DL> and my mother was very upset. DL> The mine train also sounds vaguely familiar, but not the frieght DL> train or stagecoach. The Mine Train traveled through the same territory the Mules did--at first. Later it was expanded to include Beaver Valley (whose jumping fish can still be seen along the path to Fantasyland) and the tunnels under Cascade Peak. One wrecked train is visible from the Mark Twain and other river craft just downriver from the Peak (and the other trains were stored in a lot right behind the Fantasyland Skyway station as late as 1994). The Disneyland & Santa Fe Railroad (the big train) originally had one passenger train and one freight train. I used to have fun mooing when they put us in the stock cars, but some guests couldn't get into the spirit of it all. When the Grand Canyon diorama was built, the limited visibility of the freight cars forced their retirement (and the increased traffic required a third, and eventually a fourth train). I never rode the Stagecoach at Disneyland (but I rode the one at nearby Knotts Berry Farm plenty). It ran in the same general area as the Mule Ride and Mine Train, but this was a very early attraction--a lot of the area back there was but lightly forested and without landmarks in the photos, I'm not real sure about the route. DL> Do you live in CA? I grew up there (Torrance and Manhattan Beach) and visited the Park frequently for thirty years. I still remember my first visit (it's actually my earliest memory). The year was 1958 and my brother and I tried to hold our breaths while we drove east on Artesia Blvd. through the aptly named city of Dairy Valley. Yoo Hoo, any of you Southern Cal. EchoEars wanna guess what the city of Dairy Valley calls itself today? For the past decade I have been living in Chattanooga, Tennessee--about 12 hours drive north of WDW, and 2 hours from the Disney Catalog Outlet Store in Boaz, AL. (Gotta use landmarks EchoEars will recognize, right?) DL> I am trying to get information on what might be closed in Disneyland DL> during June 10 to 14th (however I need the reply by May 24th). Unless someone else on this echo replies, I can suggest two ways of finding out: First, get on the Internet, go to the Disney homepage, and surf about until you get to the Disneyland Park section (or one of the private homepages that specializes in Disneyland news). Your second option is to call Disneyland Guest Relations at 714-999-4565. (I know, it's kinda direct, but when you're desperate....) If possible, I respectfully suggest you focus on the things DL has that WDW doesn't: Casey Jr. Circus Train, Storybook Land Canal Boats, Sleeping Beauty's Castle, Disneyland Railroad through the Grand Canyon and Primeval World, Sailing Ship Columbia, Matterhorn Bobsleds, Carousel of Progress, The Walt Disney Story, Alice in Wonderland, Indiana Jones, all of Toontown, and the Disney Gallery (over the entrance to a much better Pirates). I can also recommend a quiet dinner at the Blue Bayou Cafe (reservations strongly suggested--and don't settle for a table without a view); taking the Monorail to the Disneyland Hotel for a *quiet* break in mid-afternoon (get your hand stamped); and the northernmost veranda at the Hungry Bear in Bear Country. You can now get one, two, or three day passports. Three is a little much (at least in one dose), but Fantasmic and the Main Street Electrical Parade deserve a night each. I don't know where you got the idea that Fantasmic cost $35, it's free like all the parades once you get into the Park. I think the Lion King Parade is the best daytime parade DL has ever had--if it's still on, don't miss it (best viewing is on Main Street near where the 3-inch round plugs in the street are located). Have a great time, and tell us all about it when you come home. (Unless of course you want to take a laptop and report live!)
