--------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 147 RAILROAD FANS Ref: F3E00010 Date: 03/07/98 From: WES LEATHEROCK Time: 06:46pm \/To: ALL (Read 1 times) Subj: N.Z. power outage I wonder if anyone has information about how the massive power outage in Auckland, New Zealand, has affected Wisconsin Central's TranzRail. Does TranzRail use electric traction? In any event, it might interfere with dispatching, signalling and access to their station(s) in Auckland, described as New Zealand's largest city. Reports in the newspaper here say it may be several weeks yet before power is restored. ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.20 [NR] --- Maximus 2.02 * Origin: King Family BBS (1:147/102) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 147 RAILROAD FANS Ref: F3E00011 Date: 03/07/98 From: DAVID EPLING Time: 01:36pm \/To: ADAM ELIAS (Read 1 times) Subj: Re: model trains... I hope that the switchmen involved were independently wealthy, because if they were caught doing that they would be fired by Conrail, which can get very picky about such things. Call me an "old lady" if you want, but the only "cab rides" which I do (and I have done quite a few in the course of my business) have been with WRITTEN AUTHORITY of or in the presence of the Division Superintendent.
