I've written you some messages BK> that you didn't respond to, so I was wondering. And don't ask me BK> what it was I said either 'cause ...well, I'm sure you can figure it BK> out. I am not sure if you are referring to messages on this system or on the internet because I have not been ignoring you ( nor anybody else either) but if you send me a message with just a text to be read, I do not reply at all and do not intend to. If you send me a personal message, I will always try to reply but not to files or special articles. But as you may well know, messages on this system have been known to get lost and this is not unusual but I always reply to at least one message, if there are more than one from any person, understand? You got that right, or even a bit of extra light that stays later. We sure haven't gotten the rain some people have, though, and our river looks very low. Also we've had less sunshine and a lot more gray days this winter. BK> wonderful. Now my new problem is that I'm not getting anymore new BK> messages from over there, and it's hard to leave a message for the BK> sysop sometimes. I've got his net address, and I'll just have to BK> see if I can write him from the internet side ans see if he can tell BK> me what's going on. Well, it's strange! But I hope you get the difficulty taken care of. A friend, who is on a mail list which brings in up to 500 e-mails per day, got none Monday and Tuesday. Finally figured out that she had been unsubbed because her provider's new mail server software was not working at all. When the messages started to bounce, the person in charge unsubbed my friend! She couldn't figure out why her e-mail wasn't full as usual. :) The problem has been fixed and she's happily logging on 3 or 4 times per day to get and read her e-mail! Lady Bear Hugs, Wendy ... BJ> Yeah, and what fun taking Tom to work at times, huh? :( No, he took himself and found a disabled parking spot right by the entrance to the tunnel under the rr tracks, so he was on Easy Street that week. If he didn't feel like driving he took a taxi. I literally could only stump to the bathroom on my crutches, and then right back, so I went without meals mostly, during the day, and Tom brought me food at night. I had my water bottle, full of spring water, and some snacks, and my pain pills and lots of books and magazines, right next to the waterbed on the floor, and some of the time when I went to the bathroom I'd let Velvet out of the kitchen and bring her onto our bed with me, but mostly I just lay there listening to her whining. I couldn't do anything else. Besides, the little twerp wanted to jump on the gouty foot, and that was a BIG no-no! BJ> ... No thanks. WB> Church activities keep me busy now too as I have just joined a men's WB> chorus and am practicing this afternoon. LN> We attend the First Assembly of God in Caney, Kansas. It is about LN> 20 miles from our house to the church. WB> Do you have a large fellowship? No, it is quite small. Sunday attendance will run to about 60, kids and all. LN> That was being helpful to you. I have done enough scientific work LN> that I am bilingual in terms of metric and English measure. WB> Then, you are of a rare breed as most Americans are not fluent with WB> the metric system. WB> I get after some of our fellow citizens who insist on pronouncing the WB> word "Kilometer " as it it were "Kil awmiter" instead of the correct WB> way as "kilo meter" because the word "kilo" is a prefix to the word WB> "meter" and is often pronounced incorrectly. As I understand it, the "kil awmeter" pronunciation came from the British. I always say kilo as in the prefix, because it is a prefix. WB> Then you are familiar with the difficulty of switching over. Ah, yes. WB> A few years ago, the speedometers of some cars, were produced with WB> both miles and kilometers . Many US cars are also being produced the same way. In fact, the last time I was in Canada - 1990 - I had a car with a digital speedometer. I just moved a switch from "MILES" to "KM" and it gave speed in km / hr, and distance driven in km. WB> I doubt that this is being done now but am not sure. I would suppose that recent Canadian cars may well have only the km, unless there was hope of selling them in the US. LN> I do all the grocery shopping for us. WB> That, in itself, is exercise too. That's right. Sometimes I will come back and say "Well, I've had my walk."
