Nothin' turbocharged in the Vision; -> it's got a 3.5 liter V-6 rated at 214 HP (4 more than the turbo Talon), -> but much bigger and heavier. It's the "twin" to the Chrysler Concorde -> and Dodge Intrepid; what is commonly referred to these days as a "Sports -> Sedan". Nice car, but certainly no racer! OK. I was trying to figure that one out. Y'know, with that 3.5 liter engine, you could drive in Formula 1. tee hee Ron --- Big Ted 1.0 for Wildcat/5 * Origin: Wrinkles & Feathers BBS 904-939-8404 Navarre, Fl (1:366/29) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 142 AUTO RACING Ref: E4200012 Date: 04/02/97 From: BOBBY QUEEN Time: 02:19am \/To: MICKEY LIGHTSEY (Read 2 times) Subj: Ford Thunderbird -> Hi, are you the same guy that usaed to call my BBS? Dennis "the Menace" Sather raced in that early era and was famous for keeping his foot in the throttle and steering/braking for corrections. I saw him tumble so bad at GF one night, that his helmet was split in two. Here's some more names to ask some veterans about.... Bucky Peterson, Ron Gutto (sp?), Doug Howells, Lyn McIntosh, Harry Thurlow, Milly Swenkerude (sp?) and Don Guida .... all from the GF/Fargo area. Minot and Winnipeg used to send a few (I remember Andy and Nick Nicachenko). Some of the guys down this way that would venture north or meet the GF crew in Mpls area would be; Russ Larsen (killed in a sprinter), Jim Peterson (successful with Mopars, of all things!), Al Hargraves (slow, but he'd show), Itch and Scratch Daniels, Jerry Reichert. Our local track in Rice Lake, WI stopped running sprints back about 15 years ago. The Don Guida name above reminded me... He was about the last Offy to run in the US in the sprinter classes. He was very competitive on tight, slick tracks. He ran the Johnson Offenhauser. It looked a bit odd next to the V8 configurations. It was very delicate and slender and he ran a lot less tire width, too. Very interesting sound.... > You guys got midgets running there? I'll have to try to get to > WI, I have never seen the midgets in live action before. Sleepy Tripp and lots of well known characters run the circuit in the SW part of the state and into IL, IN. I got to watch Rich Vogler just before he was killed in IN. I could get real hooked on midgets if they ran in my immediate area. Maybe you > remember my dad from your days of coming to G.F. He used to > drive a street stock, and win damn near everything, his name is > Kenny Egeland. I went to Jr High on the east side with a Pat Egeland. Strongest person I ever knew. Is he a relative? I can't remember any of the street stock names right now. I was proud of flashing back to my sprint heroes!
