Hindricks who is one of the nations largest auto reatailers, fields 3 NASCAR teams which have won 60 races and 2 championships since 1984. Hendrick was indicted by a grand jury in Asheville, NC on 13 counts of money laundering, one count of conspiracy, and one count of mail fraud. His brother was also indicted on one count of conspiracy. Hendrick also owns Hendrick Management Corporation which controls 66 automobile and truck dealerships in 88 locations. His business has 4,500 employees and has revenue of more than $2 billion dollars. He also owns Hendrick Automotive Group which is the largest Honda and Saturn dealer in the country, and also is one of the largest distributors of GM parts in the Southeast US. Hendrick is also a 1/4 owner of the NBA Charlotte Hornet's and sits on the board of directors of NationsBank. His attorney say's that he will plead innocent to the charges. The charges cary each, a maximum penalty of 5 years in prision and a $250,000 fine. Each money laundering count carries a maximum of 10 ant 20 years and fines of $250,000 to $500,000.
