With his win over Hill Villeneuve keeps a little chance for the title in his first F1 year. With a nine points lead for Hill, Hill needs only one point in Suzuka, which means 6th place. With the same points Hill is champion because he has got more wins. The race itself was rather a mechanics' contests than much battle on the track with all teams on three pit stop strategy. Only one really remarkable action on the track with Villeneve overtakeing Schumacher on the very outside of Senna Corner. Then on lap 50 some exitement when Villeneve came out of the pits and could enter the grid just some centimeters in front of Hill. Estoril won't be in the F1 calendar of 1997, which is - in my opinion - not a great loss: the track has too little overtaking sites. Hello All Trans-Am Fans!!!! Just attended the finale of the Trams-Am series in the Biggest Little City, Reno, NV. WHAT A SHOW!! Could not believe the speeds they got up to in the short distances on the track, especially at this elevation (4750'). It was really unfortunate that Dorsey Shroeder blew up his questionably built high compression motor with only a few laps to go. He really had a chance to win the Harrah's $50,000 separate purse. The car was just flying. Ole' Ron Fellows is such a smooth driver. He really made it look easy. Tommy Kendall was quite he sportsman, he made a special effort after the race was over to drive over to Dorsey's broken car (still on the track), stop and shake Dorsey's hand. He really wanted to see Dorsey win the $50,000 since he knew he won the entire season championship if he place 11 or better. Much applause went to Mr. Kendall. Reno has really done something wonderful, they have purchased the rights to 5 years of the final Trans-Am point race. This is where the rans-Am people are going to party. Hurray! Bye all, Monte ... My reality check just bounced. --- PCBoard 15.30/GoldED 3.00.Alpha1+ 410LM1 *F*I*R*E*B*I*R*D* * Origin: The Brewery BBS Gardnerville, NV 702-265-7341 (1:213/910) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 142 AUTO RACING Ref: DDU00023 Date: 09/24/96 From: CJ HUGHES Time: 04:44pm \/To: JASON FANNING (Read 6 times) Subj: racing Hi, Thanks for writing!
