It appears that TransAm is not delivering the audience Chevy wants. Given JB> the fact that the team was able to put the car up front on the short JB> tracks when Ernie did his stint with them before going to RYR, I still JB> believe that the team in itself is capable. This "fact" you cite isn't a given. Here's some facts from the 92 thru 95 seasons for the Morgan-McClure team: At Bristol, Marlin's best finish was 6th in the '94 fall race. Irvan's best was 23rd in the spring race. Marlin has 4 top tens, Irvan had none. At Martinsville, Marlin's best finish was 7th in the fall race. Irvan's best was 25th. Even Jeff Purvis, who drove the car in the fall '93 race, did better than Irvan with a 17th. Marlin 1 top ten, Irvan zero. With Johnson, Marlin had a 2nd and a 7th. North Wilkesboro: Marlin has a 7th, 15th, 17th, and a 31st. Irvan has an 11th, 13th, and a 6th. Purvis had a 25th. With Johnson and Stavola, Marlin had three top tens. Richmond: Marlin has a 5th, a 33rd, 19th, and 13th. Irvan gets this one with 2 11th's, a 15 and a 16. Marlin had a 7th with Junior. JB> Also I don't seem to remember JB> Little Coo-Coo doing any better when he was with Jr. Johnson when it JB> came to the short tracks either. Maybe the above facts can refresh your memory? JB> This is not to be considered "bashing" by any stretch JB> of the imagination. You sure are doing a good job of it though. JB> I merely am making what I consider to be an honest observation as to he JB> problem with this driver/team combination. It may be honest, but it's not an observation, if you look at the facts. Is Ernie reverting to the same style he used while driving the Kodak car a few years ago. Personal comments on a few drivers. Ricky Rudd. By no means a fan but he has matured in the past five years or so to become a force on the circuit. I would hire him in a secong because of his consistancy Dale E. Again not a fan but respect his ability. Morgan Shepherd. Has had a lot of bad luck may do better as an owner. I wonder who the sponcer will be? Jeff G. If he stays injury freecould he possibly break the KINGS record for wins? Kyle Petty. Has been hurt to many times and I don't think he has the heart to race anymore. I hope TNN or ESPN hires him as an anouncer he doe a great job whenever he fills in. GOODBY BOB JENKINS D.W. A true gentleman of the sport however should consider retirement before he gets hurt through no falt of his own. Another excellent choice as a race announcer. GOODBY BOB JENKINS. Dave Marcis. Is this just the start. I realize that it takes major money to field a team but small tracks have been the bread and butter of racing for years. The money that these communities are not getting must be huge. The France family should remember the small track and not just consider the income they will get by going to the new super speedways. If this must in fact happen I believe that it is not possible as the France family feels to add a few Wednesday night races. The fans will go. Hey, I got turned onto the sport last year because my sister always would watch it. She picked Dale Ernhardt to win, my nephew, Jeff Gordon, and I had to pick someone everyone disliked around here...just because they did. "Go Sterling Marlin...GO!!!," I'd say when they were watching intently. Had lot of fun with that. Started listening to it on my Honda Gold Wing's radio when out taking joyrides during the weekend days.
