Hopefully that place will be >history within a couple more years and they move the dates to Las Vegas, >Miami, or one of the new, larger tracks being built. Different opinions, I like the short track racing, and keeping a portion of the schedule on them is a good thing IMO. NASCAR may have 'outgrown' flat half-milers, but a well-rounded mix of tracks (agian IMO) produces a champ that has to perform at all venues. Bill Elliot tore up the supers in 1985 but lost the WC due to short track blues. In 1987 he didn't dominate the speedways as much but improved the short track program to claim the crown. There are some things I don't like, such as closing one track (any track!) to relocate the WC dates elsewhere. I feel the dates should have reverted to NASCAR if North Wilkes wanted to drop WC, and neither Smith nor Bahre have had preference on getting one of them. I think, as new tracks open, those that have 2 dates should, on a rotating basis, loose a date for a year to accomidate races in places like Vegas, St. Louis, etc. Of course, ISC and Smith wouldn't like it, and since Bill France controls both ISC and NASCAR, it isn't likely to happen.
