First of all, it wasn't luck. It was sticking to a race plan. He wanted to run on only two pitstops and did. I was there, in turn one, (aka, the 90) and my son and I both knew that he was "short pitting". Geoff Bodine has won at the Glen twice before. Although not in a Cup Car. He won an IROC race and an IMSA race. Geoff is a good driver and has brought a lot to the sport. Like Power Steering. He was the FIRST driver to put power steering in a NASCAR racecar. Now, every car has it. Yeah, he's a joke alright. And he's laughing all the way to the BANK. Second, "Sweetie" this is NASCAR, not football. I've seen Geoff Bodine fight at the old Spencer Speedway in Williamson, NY. and let me say this about that, "Dimple Cheeks", he may be a runt but, he's a tough little runt. You Fail Darnfahrt fans are all alike, sore losers. We had about 5 of them in our section that left as soon as their HERO was out of contention for the win. True fans stick it out to the end no matter where their driver finishes. My favorite drivers didn't fare so well at the Glen this year, but I didn't tuck my tail and leave. I'm glad Geoff won the "Bud at the Glen". If any Team needed a win it was that Team. This message from the FUBAR Racing Team. ... The most dangerous part of a car is Sheila Connors at the steering wheel. ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12 --- Telegard/GEcho * Origin: :::The Holodeck BBS::: Rochester NY 716-865-6433 (1:2613/336) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 142 AUTO RACING Ref: DCL00005 Date: 08/16/96 From: DICK REICH Time: 05:54am \/To: MICKEY LIGHTSEY (Read 5 times) Subj: Earnhardt, what a man! -On 08-14-96, Mickey Lightsey was conversing with Bob Tanner discussing Earnhardt, what a man!: -> Instead, Dale took the wins and both of the drivers in question took -> a cheap shot in the right rear quarter panel and ate some wall. ML>Yea he always gets blamed but you never hear this when someone else >takes someone out, no just Dale, it's not fair, someone in here said it >was ok for Jimmy Spencer to wreck people because he's not a good driver >and LORD knows John Andretti has no right being out there! Mickey, I know you are one of many Dale E. fans here and everywhere, just as there are many fans who can't stand him. If there were fans that believed either Spencer or Andretti walked on water, and were constantly defending them, talking how great they are, you would see the same kind of arguement. Since those two don't have that kind of following, you don't hear about it here. I agree with Bob, Spencer has cleaned up his act tremendously this year, doesn't seem to try to go where he doesn't belong, and racing people much 'cleaner' (now watch him pull one of his old stunts this w/e ). As for Dale, as I've said before, he's a good driver, like all of them out there (if they weren't, they wouldn't be there). He's definately better than most, can get more out of a car than almost anyone, make it go places you could only dream about (in your nightmares), and the guts he showed the last 2 weeks earns all of my respect. After hearing that he was okay other than the breaks, my next thought was 'there goes the consecutive start streak'. Man, did he prove me wrong.
