A friend of mine took -> a scanner to listen to the pit crews and he said all Gordon did -> was complain about everything. He complained when he couldn't -> catch Rusty, then when he caught him he said Rusty was holding -> him back. He might complain but that is only for his crew to get his car right and well I guess you can see that complaining gets the car right as he is on a roll, Evernham said he is a great driver and only getting better. -> Being a Geoff Bodine fan I'm happy at how he did at Pocono. He -> said that it would be his start of his come back. It shows Bodine isn't that great of a driver, I mean sure he has had bad luck, but he took over a championship team, crew and all and has done nothing, I don't see him being much of a factor, in fact I think his brother Todd has more talent but Geoff is a ok guy, he doesn't whine likw Wallace and Martin, to name a few :) --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.10 * Origin: Tarheel Connection 90,000+ Files V.34 910-643-9570 (1:3654/9.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 142 AUTO RACING Ref: DAR00005 Date: 06/20/96 From: MICKEY LIGHTSEY Time: 06:44pm \/To: TIM MCVEY (Read 6 times) Subj: Re: #3 is #1 -> Not in Daytona... RMD> What happens, if it beginns to rain during the race? They switch to rain tires - it was kinda interesting because Goodyear had a great rain tire whereas Firestone had only an experimental design much of which they figured out just that morning when it looked like it was going to rain. Indy only races on road courses in the rain - they keep the ovals for sunny days... Enjoy! - John -- SPEED 1.40 [NR]: --- Platinum Xpress/Wildcat! v1.1 * Origin: Doc's Place, All The Fido! But so what? The reason Indy was great was the men who raced there -- the best drivers in American open wheel racing (note, not necessarilly the "best americans"!) Who is the best? Unser, Andretti, Pruett, Vasser, and those dreaded international interlopers: Fittipaldi & Fittipaldi, Tracy, mpedri... It's like getting into the World Series and discovering that your opposition is the triple-A Ottawa Lynx -- damn fine ball players in their own right, but somehow lacking the pedigree to be in the world series right here right now. The "event" was built from the race -- Tony George is trying to let the event carry his "race" and indeed his entire series. Since the IRL is going to be a spec series, the developers will go to IndyCar -- and from Honda, Reynard, Toyota, Lola, Cosworth and Mercedes money will come the events and drivers. /\oo/\ / /()\ \ david mackintosh --- timEd/2-B9 * Origin: /-/yper /|/|ail: Nepean CANADA (613)829-5843 (1:163/557) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 142 AUTO RACING Ref: DARC1331 Date: 06/20/96 From: GLEN HARNESS Time: 07:47pm \/To: JIM NOWAK (Read 5 times) Subj: Dale Earnhardt Jr. JN> Great! Now there will be a pair of A-Holes. It's JN> going to take the next generation to get his 8th JN> Winston Cup Victory. You've obviously never seen Jr. run, much less met him. I got to meet him a few weeks ago when he came down to race a twin-50-lap feature at Nasvhille Speedway USA in their late model division. I've got to say I've never met a nicer guy. Low key, laid back, non-pretentious... he certainly didn't act like he was anybody special. He even appologized to one of the other reporters there because they were having trouble with the car and he wasn't able to talk to the reporter when he first asked. He had some help learning the track and the setup. The 1990 track champion was there giving him some pointers and getting his hands dirty. You might have heard of him too... his name's Jeff Green. So, how'd Jr. do in the races? In the first race, they had a field of nearly 30 cars. He finished 3rd. In the second, the field dropped to about 24. He finished 5th. Two top five finishes on a track he'd never even seen before... not too bad I'd say.
