B^)= They are different venues, IMHO, David. It still kind of amazes me that they are being compared. Granted, since CART's trying to turn what once was America's greatest open-wheeled series into F1, I haven't followed it at all, but from that vantage point it would seem that CART and IRL are separate enities. One panders to the fan who likes big names, road racing and foreign drivers, plus the technologically inclined; the other seems like it is trying to garner the fan of oval racing, American drivers, and fans who are more impressed with good hard racing and less with glitz and high-speed gadgets. I believe the comparision is being done mostly by the fan of the Indy 500 itself and the loss they felt when their favorite drivers went with CART/F1. But then, I'm probably wrong. I also thought the Super Trucks were a faddish thing and were a bad idea. Actually, I still do but ... ??? I thought the NASCAR Grand American Division was a much, much better idea but I was wrong there, too. ================================================= = Bob Tanner (Former Hoosier) Mobile, AL = = bob.tanner@bytebbs.com = = Home of the Winston Cup Pick3+ Contest = = ** ABE's ...
