Build a big collection of files. Then instruct arj to compress them in volumes, and to keep whole files as well. If it reaches the 100 volume limit, odd things will happen! It will try to complete volumes starting over, and will keep old files, and will never finish. I know a new version is out. avalloud@milagro.dc.uba.ar. I need help in understanding how to perform housekeeping in my JAR32 archive. I have built a collection of nine chapters, and my 9801.J file has grown to 128 megabytes. I know that by now many of the earlier versions of files are quite obsolete, and so I'd like to delete all but the latest version of any one file. I've read the section in JAR.DOC on deleting chapters (dc), and it seems to me that I would want to do just that; however I can't see how to tell JAR32 to "delete all but the latest chapter" of all files in the archive, or even "delete all but the most recent two versions of any file in the archive". Thanks for any hints, suggestions or tips. Just use the switch that selects 000 as the starting volume instead of a01. This will (big surprice) increase the max. number of volumes to 1000, which should be enough. I've never run into the situation (I don't use arj that much), but if it "will never finish", then I wouldn't call that a feature..... That's something Microsoft would do / has done. If it runs into the 100 limit, then it should print a notice, rather than 'never finish'ing. --- QScan/PCB v1.19b / 01-0162 * Origin: Jackalope Junction 501-785-5381 Ft Smith AR (1:3822/1) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 141 ARJ Ref: F2200001 Date: 02/02/98 From: GREG SCHLAGEL Time: 03:15am \/To: ALL (Read 0 times) Subj: jar i am quite impressed with jar's speed and compression, especially with large text files (see below).. and i'd like to add it as an option to my offline mail doors.. does anyone have the proper command lines for the blue wave door and reader and the silver xpress door? thanks.
