What is knob-and-tube wiring? I'm sorry to say I posted this reply in the wrong echo. Knob-and-tube wiring is a type of house wiring in which the conductors are supported on knobs at frequent intervals. Tubes (usually porcelain) are used when one wire crosses another. (This is somewhat simplified, but a basic description.) It little used now in new construction, and is not permitted in many places. Romex, conduit and other types of wiring are the most common now. Knob-and-tube is perfectly safe if installed properly, but requires a capable and skilled electrician who will take pains in doing the wiring. It has fallen out of favor because it requires a skilled and careful workman, it is difficult for the electrical inspectors to examine without being almost constantly on site, and if done with all the care that must be used it is probably more expensive now than the other less critical and less labor intensive methods of wiring. ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.20 [NR] --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: The Hammer BBS (405) 376-0210 Mustang, OK (1:147/1039.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 102 CONSUMER REPORTS Ref: EGT00006Date: 12/23/97 From: CHET RHODES Time: 12:25pm \/To: TODD COPELAND (Read 4 times) Subj: Re: Win95 price -=> Quoting Todd Copeland to Bill Reyna <=- TC> w/Netscape so he does the same thing he did with Windows... forces it TC> onto the public until it becomes the norm. When I called and asked they said they would call me back in 7 days. 8 days later I called them and was told that 22.9 was correct. I asked what "there after" ment and they could not tell me. They state that the contract I signed did not state 13.9 was guarenteed. I'm no attorney but I think a letter accompaniing my contract should also be binding in some way. Misleading in the least.
