The documentation is in ARJ.DOC, and ARJ.DOC should be part of the ARJ distribution archive - if the ARJ distribution archive does not have the ARJ Security Envelope on it, you should find it somewhere else. The following is available for f'req by listed nodes: ARJ250A.EXE 270K 12-12-95 ARJ v2.50a. Extremely flexible archiver. Offers the following features: good compression, 32-bit CRC on archived files, multi-volume archives (for any media), fully backward/forward compatible, can store empty dirs/all file attributes (can be used as a full backup program), file generations, 32,000 file capacity, MUCH more. Includes REARJ, an archive conversion utility. Self-extracting archive with Security Envelope from the author. Free for personal use. ARJ255B.EXE 200K 7-16-96 ARJ v2.55b. Public TEST release of the file archiver ARJ, which has hundreds of options. This version features Windows 95 long filename support, multiple volume update support, file version management, data damage protection facility, and optional XMS memory usage for internal filename handling. Self-extracting archive with Security Envelope from the author. ARJ255BX.EXE 198K 7-16-96 ARJ v2.55b. Public TEST release (export version - missing ARJCRYPT.COM) ... The first of these is the latest release version, the second two are the latest beta versions (the last one is the "export" version). --From Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, NY, Sat, 10-05-96-- --Internet: joe.negron@consultant.com-- --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: The Programmer's Mark * Brooklyn, NY, USA: 718-921-9267 1:278/216) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 141 ARJ Ref: DEC00003 Date: 10/05/96 From: JOE NEGRON Time: 11:44pm \/To: CRAIG WHITEMAN (Read 2 times) Subj: Arj vs. Rar ** Quoting Craig Whiteman to Andres Valloud: AV> Yes... So if u want 1.7 m u would use -v1700000. This will create 1.7 m volumes, this is the only way i know how to do it. U can always try using -va. Hope it helps Allan ... Recently I have bumped into some peculiar behaviour, connected with ARJ. It happens with the unpacking/packing of files with AllFix and PalmScan. It is concerning two different types of behaviour. Seven or more times now I have had a major hangup of my system with the unpacking of "ARJ"-ived files. One of them being RAR200P.ARJ. I did not discover probems with RAR200.ARJ, but it might perhabs be the case that it does happen only with OS/2 files. I cannot deny nor underline this assumption though. With this -and other files- I have had the same type of behaviour: several ASCII-screens, while beeping, after which my system locks up, telling me to reboot the system or the session... To have my system working proper afterwards, I have to reboot not once, but twice... With the file CRAYON41.ZIP I got a hangup as well. In this case the system still shows the little ( and still running ) star, indicating the progress. The file is a (PK)ZIP file, where my boss packs everything with ARJ. Therefore I guess this file was originally originating from one of the SDS file echos. In this case as well I had to reboot my system. Furthermore something very peculiar happened, seen more often at hangup screens: ================================================================ Using environment variable: e:\UTI\ARC\ARJ.CFG=-c -ha -y Can't find M:\TMP\AF\CRAYON41.000\CRAYDRAW.ARJ Found 1 error(s)! ------------------------------------------------------------------ Unable to extract files from archive CRAYDRAW Testing archive
