Does anyone have a suggestion as to what books are available regarding the stated purposeof VOA in the post Cold War era? There have been no hits concerning reading material in the local college library. They do have a couple of books which were published in 1968 with regard to the U.S. Information Agency. There is nothing else, though. Your help in this endeavor would be appreciated. FS> Fred I know that up until very recently Philips marketed an AM/FM/SW/Cassette radio in the United States, the DC-777. Possibly some supply shop still has one of these in stock. Also Becker markets a SW car cassette stereo, the Becker Mexico. You might be able to find one of these units at a car audio retailer or possibly through a shortwave/ham vendor. I know that Grundig makes car SW units, but I do not know if they are marketed in the US or where you might be able to get one of those units. If you want more info on the above, I rembember seeing a review of the Philips unit in a previous Passport to World Band Radio (1994?) and I know that WRTH has run reviews of car SW radios. Possibly other ham/SWL periodicals may have carried reviews of the above also. However, I haven't been able to find it near the frequency where I last heard it (I *think* it may have been on WWCR, but I think they may have had some frequency/program changes etc over the last couple years). RSVP if you have any ideas on what ever happened to the show, if it's still on the air, what frequency, etc. Just curious, thanks in advance, and TTYL! Cheers, Frank ... What station is this? There was a reading from the Koran preceded by the standard chant segment. At 0400 UTC they broke into what sounded like news in Arabic with several references to Riyadh. My WRTH (1997 edition) does not list this frequency for any station from an Arabic speaking country. I couldn't make out the ID at 0400 UTC. Their signal in here was a 545 (SIO). That's pretty powerful on that frequency for this time of night. Any help would be appreciated.
