The SEs did more than Lucasfilm ever thought they would. I think MS> the prequels could be as much as 5-10 times bigger. BTW, there's some MS> theater news related to this issue that I've forgotten to mention here: MS> Apparently, Episode I is a force (no pun intended) that is driving MS>theaters MS> towards reserved seating. You'll be able to reserve specific seats (at MS> theaters that do this) as much as a month (or 2?) before the showing. I MS> personally think that is a very, very bad idea. IMO, If you don't camp ut MS> like the hardcores, then you don't deserve the seats. Sounds like a yuppie takeover of the theaters... They wouldn't also be including valet service, would they? MS> There's also talk that Episode I will be shown 24 hours a day for the MS>first MS> 1-2 weeks, to ensure that everyone who wants to see it right away will et MS> their chance. Certain theater chains are ready to offer this kind of set- MS> up to Lucasfilm for some kind of rights, the details of which I don't MS>know. That sounds a bit wild to me... --- OLXWin 1.00a Heavy Frigate Classes*Avenger*Cyane*Kresta*Joshua Paul --- RyPacker v2.5a * Origin: The Right Place V.34 DS Ft.Lee,NJ 201-947-8231 (1:2604/539) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 138 STAR WARS Ref: F3G00005 Date: 03/11/98 From: BRION LIENHART Time: 02:56pm \/To: ANDY MYERS (Read 0 times) Subj: DARTH VADER'S COURT APPERANCE On Sat Mar 07, Andy Myers said to Shaun Skidmore: -AM>Vader did not destroy Alderran at Thrawn's orders. I guess you can say that about the X-files, if you haven't watched it from the start you probably won't stand the mythology episodes. If you love special effects and a very very deep storyline, the x-files (TV's most expensive show and fox's highest rated show) is a show for you! And concerning Titanic's story, it's better than star wars because most of it is true, except for that love story thing! I love the story in Star Wars also, espiecially the 'empire strikes back', actually it's still one or if not, my favorite movies of all time! --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Cowgirl's Rodeo (1:250/401) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 138 STAR WARS Ref: F3H00001 Date: 03/12/98 From: SHAUN CHINAPEN Time: 11:00pm \/To: JOHN SNYDER (Read 0 times) Subj: question about the prequel 23:00:4603/12/98 JS> i was reading an article on science fiction and it's recent "comeback" JS> of sorts in the movie industry. i dont know if that's even a valid JS> subject, but that's what the article was about. anyways, it said that JS> many blockbuster sci-fi films were due out in 1998. Yeah, it's due out in 99, that article is a bit inaccurate I guess. JS>ANYWAYS. this makes me wonder; just how succesful (monetarily) will th JS>new Star Wars movies be? it's a popular opinion among my non-fan frien JS>that Episode One will make so much money that people will die from JS>shock. what do you guys think? will it be a gigantic blockbuster, JS>blowing even Titanic out of the water? (awful pun intended :) JS>or will it just make a respectable showing? im not so sure that the US JS>movie-going crowd of today will react to this the same way they did 10 JS>years ago. Okay My opinion is pretty strong on this, Titanic better enjoy its stay at #1 because in about 1 year from now, chapter One will overtake Titanic very easily and at a much faster pace, think of it this way, if every star wars fan (real fans will see it at least 3-4 times EACH) semi-fans will see it 2-3 times each, and new fans/or people that have seen it the original but are being dragged along, will be so impressed they will see it at least twice, its a guarantee, young people will check it out, because of the "dark nature" that the first three chapters are to apparently hold, GENERATION-X'ers all the way back to Baby Boomers have seen Star Wars Chapter 4 so my guess is Titanic will (OH MY GOD this is gonna be a horrible PUN, sorry!) SINK! in about 1 year. Bill ___ X WinQwk 2.0b#0 X Unregistered Evaluation Copy --- Maximus 3.01 * Origin: -=> BYTOWN BBS <=- 1(613)727-1679 -=[OTTAWA ONTARIO]=- (1:163/421)
