Yes, there is a reason that the novels can only go to a certain point beyond ROTJ. I think the official point in time is 25-30 years, although I'm not sure on that. Anything past that is forbidden territory. I also agree that Lucas will wait until well after I-III are released before he makes a final decision regarding VII-IX. I think his current "6 films" stance is simply his "official line" right now, and it was better for him to change his public statements from 9 to 6 because no one is sure if there will be any more. He doesn't want to commit to them just yet. Also, a while ago, there were rumors of new characters from I-III appearing again in VII-IX. While probably just speculation, it could be done. ... Why on earth would Lucas make more SW movies based on something he didn't create? It will never happen. SC> i mean doesn't anyone else find it too convinient that one of the solo SC> kids is named anakin! seems like a setup to me. Why is that convenient? I see it as a bad naming mistake. And I don't think Lucas would want to tell the exact same story over again with a new generation of characters. The only things we know about VII-IX are that they aren't set in stone yet, that Lucas doesn't have any hard ideas for them (that he's shared), and that he *might* want to use some of the original cast in returning roles (Luke, Han, Leia). He even said once (in an old Time magazine interview) that he would use an all-new cast of all-alien (no human) characters in VII-IX. But, like I said, that was a long time ago, and was probably just one of his many rants. SC> in fact, the rumors i have heard have anakin turning to the darkside SC> and betraying his twin siblings (hmm, wasn't there another set of twin SC> siblings in a similar story?). Yes. Which is why I think that whole idea is boring, derivative, and unoriginal. Plus, like I said, Lucas wouldn't make a SW movie based on any- thing other than his own creations. ... The Emperor stopped paying attention to his forces, and the sudden lack of coordination caused the Imperials to do stupid things, like opening the hatch when Chewbacca knocked on it, or running into the Death Star. --- QM v1.31 * Origin: Ministry of Peace - Carson City, NV (1:213/700.2) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 138 STAR WARS Ref: EFW00001 Date: 11/23/97 From: PAUL GREEN Time: 11:38am \/To: ALL (Read 0 times) Subj: Star Wars Prequel THingys To All Star Wars Fans, The "new" prequels for star wars will be released in the next 3 years.
