Sorry to say, but please stop DN> Ah, sorry to say ther are five galaxy class vessels in a fleet of over two DN> hundred ship with the same capability. I'm sorry to spoil your point, but Star Trek MADE UP more Galaxy-Class essels AFTER we learned of just how many THOUSAND Capital ships the Empire has in he Star Wars books that, whilst at the same time in Star Trek land, the Federation of Planets had exactly ONE, the name of which we all know by now. As always, Star Trek has always been playing one-upman-ship ever since Star Wars came out, NEVER vice-versa. --- FRee iNTeRNeT !! * Origin: The Desert Sands BBS Cambridge ON Canada (1:221/203) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 138 STAR WARS Ref: EBC00029 Date: 07/07/97 From: TIM RIVERA Time: 01:13am \/To: DAVID NELSON (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: Star Trek will never rule Try me, mental midget... --- FRee iNTeRNeT !! * Origin: The Desert Sands BBS Cambridge ON Canada (1:221/203) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 138 STAR WARS Ref: EBC00030 Date: 07/07/97 From: TIM RIVERA Time: 01:15am \/To: DAVID NELSON (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: Star Trek will never rule DN> equipped with only lasers. DN> At least it's more feasible than going to light speed without interial DN> dampners. "At least"...at least Star Wars doesn't claim itself to be factual, unlike Star Trek. Besides, Star Wars uses a theory of Hyperspace, which dictates that, with the help of a Hyperdrive motivator, sends the ship into a "shadow" galaxy called Hyperspace, with "shadow" objects hanging in the equivalent spot in "Realspace". Therefore, the concept of "lightspeed" is proverbially thrown out the window. > so it turns out that the Star wars method of close range transport > (shuttling) is much more realistic than the Star Trek one (magic > transporter beams). -John DN> Um, (another) reality check. Star Trek has shuttles too. They have fleets DN> of shuttles ranging from short-range impulse to long-range high speed warp. DN> Star Wars is not the master in that. As in all other areas. Uh...remember the episode of ST:TNG when the Borg came to assimilate Earth? And the THREE pathetic fighter ships that tried to confront the Borg? Me and my brother just looked at each other and laughed for a few minutes. First, the Federation and it's pilots don't know a thing about strategy, as the ships went at the erratic Borg point-blank. Second, the pilots can't be very good, as they didn't even fire, though they were well within range of firing (practically point-blank distance!). They also looked VERY slow and manuverable out there, though that might be more of a knock at the visual-effects men. --- FRee iNTeRNeT !! * Origin: The Desert Sands BBS Cambridge ON Canada (1:221/203) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 138 STAR WARS Ref: EBC00034 Date: 07/07/97 From: TIM RIVERA Time: 02:21am \/To: DAVID NELSON (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: Star Wars Sucks > writing ST . actually, Star Trek came out first. it did rip off every > Sci-fi series from the past, though. interestingly enough....
