Ok...I know how big Yay big is, but what is a Whole whack? A whole whack is about the same as "lotsa" and a little more than a "buncha". As in a whole whack of pictures. Beats me where is comes from. They are musty? > Vinegar Syndrome (how long have I tried to work THAT into conversation) affects acetate based films (as opposed to the original nitrate films you've probably heard of). The acetate breaks down into it's components, acetic acid (vinegar) and cellulose, as it ages and comes into contact with moisture. The acetic acid is it's own catalyst and the process excelerates with the increased acidity. Like a virus the acetic acid can spread to neighboring cans and begin the process on their contents. If it's left unchecked you have an epidemic. The process is irreversible although there are treatments and preventative measures. Problem number one for me is to figure out which 20,000 cans are affected. Thanks to modern technology we no longer have to sniff the acid laced cans to detect them, there are test strips that can be placed in each can. > RM> Shoot me. Thanks, I will continue to spread the Word. The other day I mentioned bringing in my babies when I get an office. When a new colleague realized I meant my cameras she said she had thought I meant the ones I cuddle and talk to.
