A spokesperson at the FCC's Gettysburg office said the current plan is to run the first-day applications on or about January 7, 1997, but emphasized that this is not a firm date. The FCC has processed earlier vanity receipts through mid-November, including all work in process (WIPs) applications. In November, the FCC reports it got 517 electronic applications and 149 paper applications. The FCC reports it got more than 800 electronic applications on December 2, the first day of Gate 4. Another 120 electronic applications showed up on December 3. A count of paper applications is not yet available. That's a JK> whole different kettle of fish, I think. Yes, I do believe that YOU are missing the context.. re-read the first two paragraphs. We both stated that local cops are too busy to be bothered by such a trivial thing as CB interference. It falls (in the mind of street-weary cops) in the same category as too-loud tv's and boom boxes ...tell the offender to eliminate the problem and then leave so we could take care of the real world problems. Technically, I had the authority to enforce **any** law, be it local, state, or federal, no matter whether it was civil or criminal. I and my fellow officers were so overloaded we had our hands full taking care of criminal offenses. And that is the way it will be with the CB interference problem. The other is/was 6YAXG (yes, I know there's a "6" at the front, but that's part of the country prefix). Then the Govt realised they'd made a mistake and revised it to 6Y5XG. Of course, there are also the UK amateurs who until quite recently didn't bother with such trivia as country prefixes...
