I would audiotape everything, if possible (with the other person's permission, of course), regardless of whether or not I videotaped. As for videotaping, I'd say it depends on the person being interviewed. Some people are just not comfortable being videotaped. If you do videotape, you should have one person to hold the camera and another person to ask the questions. That would help to make the person you're interviewing feel as though he/she is talking to a person instead of to a piece of equipment. ... Thomas Newton BROCK had several sisters and it is believed he had brothers. NOTE: The WHITE, BROCK and Northcott clans intermingled with the BOLTON/BOULTON clan as there were some double cousins. James and son Thomas moved (with sisters) from TN to TX between 1886 and 1888 as shown by birth dates of my grandmother and her older brother - he was b. in TN, she in Bell Co., TX. Some of the sisters and their families settled along the Red River in OK and TX. It is believed the brothers stayed in TN or went elsewhere. Great-Grandmother Mary Alice White BROCK lived in TX and OK for 40 years w/o being able to visit her mother in TN before G-G-grandmother WHITE died about 1926-1928. There is Indian blood in the BROCK family. Great-Grandpa BROCK told me many times of how some of aunts refused to acknowledge their Indian blood and thus cost the family much land from the government. He was dark and there were old "tin-type" photos I saw as a child of folks I thought were Indians but he said they were of his grandparents and aunts. The photos were lost in a tornado. NOTE: There is a community named BROCK in Parker County, Texas. The Parker County Historical Society did a thorough historical study of BROCK in the late 1980's. You can contact the society through the Weatherford, TX Public Library. I found no connection - close but no connection - but as you know, BROCKs in the South are like ticks on a hound! The various BROCK lines came from all over Europe and then inter-married, possibly to drive genealogists more crazy. e-mail: fstarns@flash.net --- GoldED/386 2.50+ * Origin: * The Oasis BBS: (817) 613-9002 (1:130/716) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 133 GENEALOGY Ref: F5G00027 Date: 04/13/98 From: FRANK STARNS Time: 06:15pm \/To: ALL (Read 2 times) Subj: 4-hightower/mulden Routine Monthly Posting: Hightower/Mulden/Pamplin 1.
