TR>Jerry, I have a friend, Chris Murphy, in Columbus, Ohio who would like very TR>much to chat with you about 'Murphys'. Do you have an internet address or TR>some other way for him to contact you? The name Chris is not uncommon among our family. I would very much like to communicate with him! My address is in the tagline below, and I can receive netmail at the origin line until the last day of this month at least, and perhaps even longer if I hit the Lotto. But if you ever find me with my own Internet address, you can bet the farm that hell froze over, and there will be film of Armageddon at 11. She would be MM> too soon to be the mother of my Amanda, but could have been named for MM> her. What county in KY was your Amanda born? Was Collins her maiden MM> or her married name? Marianne, The Amanda Collins I have was the daughter of Henry Collins. They, and other Collins' lived near the Cumberland R. and Straight Cr., the County line of Harlan and Knox Counties, KY. She had a brother, Abraham Collins, who married Christina Poulston in Clay Co. KY, in 1828. They later lived in Morgan Co., IN. The other Collins names in the vicinity of Harlan and Knox counties from the 1825 census were: Solomon, Levi, Isiah, David, Aaron and Henry. It is believed that they were Melungeons. Amanda was the mother of Henry Howard, my great-great-grandfather. The father was William S. Howard. They weren't married, so my g-g-grandfather was illegitimate. This is the kind of stuff that makes family history interesting, or at least I think so. I would assume there is no connection between your Amanda and mine, but then I have no record of mine after leaving the illegitimate son with her brother and his wife, in Morgan Co., IN I don't know if she married, or where she lived.
