Our son and I just returned from Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico on Thursday evening. Our crew finished an 11 day, 60+ mile backpacking trip there. It was my son and my second trip. It was much easier than last summer. I guess that I was in better condition (I *had* been working on at. One of the many neat things about Philmont is all the interesting folks from all over the USA and perhaps even Japan or Europe. Mike Bourne --- QM v1.00 * Origin: A Point at the Edge of Town (Ft. I am sure you and the Scouts will want to help. CHRIS ****************************** From ZHP the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association. Warsaw Poland. Dear Friends Poland has been recently afflicted by a terrible flood disaster. The last similar flooding in Poland happened over 500 years ago. Until today the number of people who died in the disaster exceeded 40. Over 100 Polish towns and cities in southern and western Poland and a great number of villages and fields are currently under water, thousands of people have lost their homes. The risk of epidemic is growing in the places where water started decreasing. Many Polish Scouts, Guides and leaders and their families have been affected by the cataclysm. In spite of this ZHP was one of the first who started brining help to people in need. Over the last few days the association has prepared 12,000 places on summer camps for children from the affected regions. Hundreds of Scouts and Guides are working hard and very effectively in extreme conditions saving people distributing food and water, bringing medical aid. ZHP has created a special Leaders Fund. All money gathered in this fund will be used to help leaders of our association who are strongly affected by the flood. Their houses have been ruined, they have no food and no clothes. By contributing to this fund members of our association demonstrate their solidarity with the victims of the flood. Contributions from all members of the World Scout and Guide family are most welcome.
