Any advice is appreciated. Yes, you most certainly can run a 56K modem under DOS (provided it is not a modem designed to run under Windows exclusively), and ther should not be any problems. Did you mean that the Rockwell and Lucent firmware modems would implement class 1, class 2 or class 2.0. To the best of my knowledge, no one refers to class 1 as class 1.0. RB> I have a Lightspeed Lightfax 2880VFC modem. Even though RB> I am very happy with it, the highest connects to some RB> systems is never more than 19200. Can anyone help me with that problem? That's not really a problem. Some lines just won't support the max speeds. A good example: If I call out on one modem back in to the other, I get a 33.6K connect every time. The modems are on analog ports behind an ISDN TA. IOW, my lines here are as clean as they get. I can call from the office over a regular pots line and sometimes connect as low as 16800, and never any higher than 21600. Our office analog lines suck. I can take the modem at work and connect it to a pots port off our ISDN router and call and get 33.6K connects. --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Wylie Connection 128K ISDN / V34+ 972-429-7005 (1:124/7028) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 105 HIGH SPEED MODEM Ref: F4500001Date: 04/04/98 From: CRAIG FORD Time: 04:07pm \/To: RON HARPER (Read 4 times) Subj: Please help me out here RON HARPER wrote the following to CRAIG FORD, and I quote (in part): -=> Note: Copied from HS_MODEMS by WIMM/2 1.31 RH> Thanks for the reply & info Craig, it looks like even if the modem RH> says it's for windows that you could get past the problem with RH> diffrent software, I mean I don't know because Ive never even saw RH> a 56k (Except for pictures) & don't know of many people around RH> here that has them, but could it be bypassed with diffrent RH> software? replies appreciated.
