I wonder if fish can actually see the detail on some of these crankbaits. Some lures have individual scales painted on them. Can the fish actually see the scales when we pull the lure through the water? I doubt it. Anyway I'm losing too many lures and that is forcing me into soft plastic lures. The variety of soft plastic is incredible. Last weekend I bought a 17.5 cm (7 inch) soft plastic eel. It gave me a repulsive feeling in the store and I figured anything that repulsed me that much (and I KNOW it's just plastic) ought to fool the fish. ... The main reasons they are declared pest are for eating the roe (I think) of native fish like Murray Cod, and foraging on river banks so much they turn them to mud, again making life hard for native fish. There was a plan floated a few months ago to hold a carp fishing contest on the River Murray with a prize purse of about $2 million, but I haven't heard any more of it. If it goes ahead, I'll let you know - the organisers were hoping to attract overseas contestants, & for a share of $2M I'd have a go myself :) Cheers, Steve.. --- * Origin: Tap tap tap - lifted back, and boom!
