Two years ago I passed +by Lake Powell which sets on the borders of Az. and Utah. I saw a local I'm wanting to say it was last week or the week before Orlando Wilson was fishing there for Stripers. He said there was no limit and they said even for a tv show they were catching a lot of fish. They flat killed'em... Well actually I haven't ice fished for years (too many years, more than I care to think about) and was trying to persuade another BC resident to take me out on one of his excursions. The guy packs pizza and numerous other goodies (if I remember correctly lasagne was another tidbit) and it sounded like a fairly good time. Unfortunetly I haven't recieved my invitation yet and I am certain that there isn't much ice on the lakes anymore. :( Anyhow Ladysmith is on Vancouver Island about 100 kms north of Victoria and about 20 kms south of Nanaimo. I have never been lake trout fishing but have caught many a rainbow as well as a few of the other varieties of trout. I have yet to be salmon fishing but my cousin keeps promising a trip. He claims to know where the big ones hang out and since he has brought a few over here to cook up, I tend to believe him (very nice looking fish and quite tasty). As far as steelhead goes I'd like to go up to Gold River when they are running that way again (have to check it out) since I have heard that this is the ultimate river for steelhead. Spokane isn't too far from here! I have never been in Spokane but I have visited Washington State a half dozen times. Needless to say I can see your state from here since Ladysmith is right on the 49th, although there is the Georgia Straight between us. RO> I fish our major river systems mostly, Snake and Columbia. Do you RO> have RO> a lot of "Dams" on your rivers up there? If you don't you are RO> probably RO> lucky! Not many dams on the Island, or at least any major ones. The fish in the rivers here tend to be small since the freshwater fish don't grow too fast here. I haven't tried much fishing on the Island yet but I hope to change that in the very near future. What's the fishing like on the Snake and Columbia? Always like to here about fish tales (especially when they're close to home). --- Msged 4.30 beta * Origin: ZOLTAN -> Ladysmith, BC (250) 245-7168 (1:351/255) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 128 FISHING Ref: F4G00002 Date: 04/11/98 From: MAURICE KINAL Time: 12:43am \/To: ROBERT OSBORNE (Read 0 times) Subj: carp 03 Apr 98 04:12, Robert Osborne wrote to Maurice Kinal: MK>>the river.
