Although there are movies that I have seen that I am not interested in reading the book....though I KNOW that his books and the screen plays are so different. I may one day read them. I like THE LONG WALK...remember that? It was great. My favorite story would have to be The Talisman....well, it was my favorite many years ago...it has been a while so I am not sure if I read it again if it would still be the best to me. I know what you mean about everything getting too long....I also at times get irritated when you see a large word many times in a chapter....have you ever noticed it?
