Only my cat went your cat one better - he ate part of a wedding cake.... My mother was baking a wedding cake for a family friend, and it was big. She'd partly assembled it, and had left it on the dining room table to "set". The ceramic decoration was already on top of the cake, and that night at dinner we heard it hit the table with a >thump<. Since it was heavy and not well-balanced, we didn't think much of it. We should have. The cat, Max, had chewed a piece out of the bottom layer of the cake. He then proceeded to walk UP the cake, leaving paw-prints in the icing, and bumped the cake topper off so that he could be King of the ll. He escaped with his life, but only because he left the scene of the crime before my mother saw the damage. She didn't tell the bride until about 5 years after it happened.... --- Maximus 2.02 * Origin: A Bit Of Light In Your Night 860/290-8578 10p-8a Only (1:142/578) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 277 CATS Ref: F5G00063 Date: 04/20/98 From: JO PESHEK Time: 12:03pm \/To: MISS KITTY (Read 1 times) Subj: Cat who walks through .. JP>> There's always Program, the systemic flea JP>> hormone that stops eggs from hatching. MK> Advantage kills the fleas that are on the MK> animal instead. With Program, the fleas still MK> live.... Just FYI... Yes, but only for a week or two. I went through a six-month period of toxifying my house against fleas that JUST WOULDN'T DIE just before Program appeared at my vets (big pine roaches would walk in my front door and make it no more than 3 feet into my living room before they'd be upside down on the floor). Advantage came out a tad later, and after Program had eliminated the flea repopulation problem...at that time I was desperately combing fleas off the three cats and dropping the fleas in soapy water because the sprays and baths and whatever I could get my hands on just wasn't doing anything. But the point here, I think, was that perhaps a Persian, with their inherent sensitivity to topical flea elimination chemicals, could tolerate Program. People living with part or full Persian companions should at least be aware of the possibilities. :) ... . 0-m ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.20 --- Maximus/2 2.02 * Origin: The Funny Papers * Lodi, NJ * (973)478-8476 (1:2604/104) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 277 CATS Ref: F5G00064 Date: 04/21/98 From: JO PESHEK Time: 01:36am \/To: BRENDA SMEBY (Read 1 times) Subj: Cat who walks through BS> I forgot all about program. Sounds good to me. When we got Lady Jane, she was already a year and a half old. We picked her up at the vet hospital where she was living and put her in the carrier. As soon as we carried her to the car, she started meowing the most forlorn meows, and kept it up all the time until she got out - an hour later. She is getting harder and harder to put into the cage - of course, you are right in that NOW the end of the trail is the vet's. But even when we are done there, it is hard to get her into the carrier to bring her home. We had a cat called Tiffany who was a holy (or unholy) terror when it came to the cat carrier. But once the vet was done, all we had to do was open the cat carrier, and she went right in. Meow ^Leo^ ...
